Along with two new bikes, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has revealed it also plans to introduce a new 125cc scooter in the market. Atsushi Ogata, President, MD and CEO of HMSI has stated that the upcoming 125cc scooter for the Indian market will be introduced in the next financial year.

Honda currently offers two 125cc scooters in the market - the Activa 125 and the Grazia 125. While a brand new scooter could be a distant proposition, we think that Honda could bring in a new variant of the Activa 125 with sportier looks and more features to enhance its modernity quotient. That way, Honda’s contender for the likes of the TVS NTorq 125 and Suzuki Avenis 125 could have a sporty and youthful appeal.
Despite the severe semiconductor crunch, demand for two-wheelers is gaining momentum with the reopening of schools and offices, Ogata explained. Honda, being among the top players in the Indian two-wheeler industry, it seems, wants to make the most of this opportunity.
So, we suspect the Japanese marque will try to introduce the new 125cc scooter and the two upcoming motorcycles before the BS6-2 OBD regulations are put in motion from April 1, 2023.
