KTM 160 Duke vs TVS Apache RTR 160 4V: Game Of Features

Does the more affordable TVS Apache RTR 160 4V have more to offer than the KTM 160 Duke? Here’s what we think

The KTM Duke 160 is the newest addition to the 160cc streetfighter segment, and it goes up against the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. Now, both these motorcycles are at different ends of the spectrum, but in terms of features, they are a lot similar. In this article, we will be comparing the features of the two to see which one makes more sense for you.

When comparing the features side-by-side, it is clear that both motorcycles have a varied but, expansive feature set.

The KTM 160 Duke does get a ride-by-wire throttle but misses out on riding modes, which we think is a letdown. The bike is powered by a 164.2cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which produces 19PS and 15.5Nm, making it the most powerful bike in the segment. Having riding modes would have made it easier for beginner riders to ride the bike with more confidence. The switchable rear-ABS is a decent addition, but it won’t make that much of a difference while riding and is mainly for those riders who might be interested in stunt riding.

The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is powered by a 159.7cc, oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine which produces 17.55PS and 14.73Nm. Full power with minimal ABS intervention is available in the Sport riding mode, while in the Urban and Rain riding modes, the power is capped at 15.64PS and 14.14Nm, but with a higher level of ABS intervention. This adds a layer of versatility to the motorcycle, making it easier for beginners to ride in different conditions with greater confidence.

That said, the KTM 160 Duke feels premium. Although the console is rather basic, it still gets the 4-button switch cube setup as the higher capacity Duke 390. This makes it so much easier to navigate the console and its features. Along with this, the bike also offers music control, which is a convenient feature.

Verdict

Before we say which bike makes more sense, let us take a look at the prices:

Model

Price (Ex-showroom Delhi)

KTM 160 Duke

Rs 1,84,998

TVS Apache RTR 160 4V (BT Disc)

Rs 1,32,470

The top-end BT Disc variant of the Apache RTR 160 4V is the most affordable of the two bikes – it gets Bluetooth connectivity and all the related features. This makes it around Rs 52,528 more affordable than the KTM 160 Duke. If you are a budget-conscious buyer who wants decent performance along with a good set of features, then the Apache makes more sense. But if you are someone who has the extra budget and wants the highest level of performance, and also a premium feel, then the KTM 160 Duke makes a lot more sense.

Urgent sell bike

Apache RTR 4v black is quite good bike as compared to other brand. This bike offer 17 bhp and 15 nm torque which is quite fast coming to looks. It looks like naked super bike with red black colour combination. It offer three riding mode with tft display and abs braking which is single only with better mileage in this segment. Read More

Great Performance and Handling but City Mileage Co

I chose the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V TFT USD model mainly for its sporty design, features and strong road presence. The bike feels very stable on highways and comfortable for daily city rides. Handling is sharp and confidence inspiring. It is also good for family usage when riding normally. Overall the build quality, braking and features like TFT display make the bike feel premium in this segment. Ride quality so far has been very good. The Apache RTR 160 4V TFT USD has excellent handling and stability. In highways the bike feels planted and smooth even at higher speeds. Braking performance and suspension are also good for most road conditions. But the biggest downside for me is the city mileage. In city I am getting around 28 to 32 kmpl, which is lower than expected for a 160cc bike. If someone wants good performance, sporty design, great handling and modern features, the Apache RTR 160 4V TFT USD is a very good choice. However mileage is the only reason I hesitate to recommend it to everyone. Competitors like Pulsar N160 give better mileage in city conditions. So if mileage is your main priority you may consider other options, but apart from that the bike is really enjoyable to ride.Read More

Apache RTR review

According to online review it's the best bike in the segment. I reviewed other bikes in the segment and everybody has their pros and cons but this is the overall best friend and it has been running on the roads were years that's why. Very punchy and comfortable. It's very manuvareble in traffic and the blood through technology is very helpful in the driving also when it comes to I wait as a very good performance. Mileage is pretty good. Yes to anyone in this segment. Even even has an interesting 160 CC segment this is the best way to go for according to me as it as too much features for the price range and it is very much good for this age group.Read More
