The upcoming model list includes a cruiser, two retro bikes, a naked bike and a faired bike

Keeway Launch Plans Revealed

Keeway made a smashing entry into the Indian market with not one but three products: two 300cc scooters (Keeway Vieste 300 and Sixties 300i) and a 250cc V-twin cruiser (Keeway K-Light 250V). The Chinese-owned Hungarian bikemaker also revealed its plans of launching five more products this year. Keeway will launch the products in a staggered manner, and by September this year, all the products will have been launched.

Keeway’s upcoming bikes list will include a 300cc cruiser, a 125cc and a 250cc retro bike, and a 300cc naked and faired bike. Expect the 250cc retro bike to pack the same V-twin heart as the Keeway K-Light 250V. The 125cc retro bike will likely be based on the RKF125, a naked bike sold in the Hungarian market. It comes with a 125cc liquid-cooled engine, churning out 12.7PS and 10Nm. This will help the bikemaker take the fight against the KTM 125 Duke, which is one of the Austrian bikemaker’s highest selling motorcycles. The 250cc retro bike will go up against the Royal Enfield Bullet 350, Jawa and the Yezdi Roadster

On the other hand, the 300cc cruiser could have a liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, whereas the 300cc faired bike could look similar to the Keeway RKR 165 sold in the Bangladesh market, albeit with a 300cc engine. The upcoming 300cc twins will help Keeway compete with the KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R, TVS Apache RR 310, Honda CB300R and the Kawasaki Ninja 300.

The pricing will range from around Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 4 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the model. Apart from planning a strong portfolio, dealership reach is also paramount for a brand’s success in India. To that end, Keeway will be present in 45 cities on launch (which will happen next week), and plans to expand its dealership network to 100 outlets by next year. We hope the brand’s plans go as per the schedule; and if it nails the pricing, Keeway will have a chance to shine in this competitive market.
