    Straight From The Future

The Keeyway Hypevolt-R looks like it is straight from the future! It gets a sporty and futuristic design with sharp bodywork and an aggressive stance. Up front, it features vertically-stacked dual LED projector headlight and arrow-shaped DRLs on either side which give it a rather different yet sporty appearance. The muscular side panels, split grab rails, and chunky proportions give it a premium look, while the 14-inch wheels further enhance its road presence.

While the scooter is not the most practical electric option out there, thanks to the massive centre tunnel, it does offer a 27-litre under-seat storage compartment.

    Battery, Range & Performance

Powering the Hypevolt-R is a mid-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 6kW of continuous power and 12kW peak power, along with 72Nm of peak torque.

The scooter uses dual removable battery packs, offering a combined battery capacity of 5.04kWh. Keeway claims an IDC-certified range of 180km, while the scooter can accelerate from 0-40kmph in a claimed 2.3 seconds in Sport mode. Top speed is claimed at 115kmph, making it one of the quickest electric scooters currently available in India.

The Hypevolt-R has 30 degrees of gradability, which is insane for an electric scooter. For reference, the Ather 450 Apex has 20 degrees of gradability and works quite well in the real world.

Charging duties are handled by an onboard charger, with the battery taking around 3 hours to charge from 0 to 80 percent using the optional rapid charger. The removable battery packs can also be charged outside the scooter, making them convenient for users without dedicated parking infrastructure.

    Underpinnings

The Hypevolt-R gets a telescopic fork and five-step preload-adjustable shock absorbers. Braking is aided by disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS, while the scooter rides on 14-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 100/80 front and 120/70 rear tyres. It also gets 130mm ground clearance, a 770mm seat height, and tips the scales at 140kg kerb weight.

    Loads Of Features

Keeway has equipped the Hypevolt-R with an extensive list of electronic rider aids, some of which are rarely seen in the electric scooter segment.

    BikeDekho Says

On paper, the Keeway Hypevolt-R packs an impressive specification sheet. A claimed 180km IDC range, 115kmph top speed, 30-degree gradability, removable dual batteries, and rider aids like blind spot detection, rear camera and cruise control certainly make it stand out in the premium electric scooter space.

However, its Rs 1.99 lakh introductory price places it firmly in the premium end of the market, where buyers also have established alternatives like the Ather 450 Apex, the Simle One Ultra and the upcoming Ultraviolette Tesseract. That said, we will only be able to assess the scooter's real-world performance and range once we ride it.
