The Hero Splendor+ Xtec comes in two variants: one with a front drum, and another with a disc. The Disc variant is priced at Rs 84,126 (ex-showroom Delhi). The price difference between the two are not much, and here’s why you should consider the disc over the drum variant:
Price & Positioning
The Hero Splendor+ Xtec Disc sits Rs 3,043 above the Xtec Drum variant. The front disc brake is the only hardware difference between the two.

Design & Styling
Hero keeps the familiar Splendor silhouette intact, leaving the core design language unchanged. The graphics are neatly done and don’t look overly flashy. The 3D Hero logo on the fuel tank adds a bit of the premium factor to the bike. The offset stripe on the headlight cowl also makes it look a bit sporty, in my opinion. Three dual-tone colours are available: Black Sparkling Blue, Red Black, and Black Tornado Grey. Black alloy wheels and a chrome exhaust muffler (on all variants and colours) round off the look.
Features
Up front, the Xtec Disc gets a full-LCD instrument cluster. It shows a speedometer, odometer, two trip meters, and a fuel gauge. Real-time mileage display is also on board, a segment first. Bluetooth connectivity handles call and SMS alerts, and a USB mobile charging port comes standard. That said, you will still have to buy a phone holder separately.
Safety & Hardware
Up front, a 240mm disc brake replaces the 130mm front drum unit found on the lower variant. The rear stays on a 130mm drum. Both wheels are linked through a Combined Braking System (CBS), and no ABS is available — not even a single-channel unit. ABS or not, a disc is still preferable over a drum as it offers better bite and helps in bringing the bike to a halt much quicker.
The side-stand indicator pairs with an engine cut-off function for safety. There’s also a bank angle sensor that cuts the engine if the bike falls. Tubeless 80/100-18 tyres are fitted at both ends. At 113.6kg kerb weight, it is only 1.6 kg heavier than the drum model.
Engine & Performance
All Splendor+ variants share the same 97.2 cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. It puts out 8.02PS at 8,000rpm and 8.05Nm at 6,000rpm, with a 4-speed gearbox. The i3S idle start-stop system also comes fitted, cutting fuel use in traffic. It shuts down the engine when it idles for a few seconds in traffic. A simple pull of the clutch lever starts it back up. This is useful when you ride on roads with a lot of stop-and-go traffic. The claimed mileage of the Splendor Plus Xtec is 70kmpl with E20 fuel.
