Indian Two Wheeler Market Sales Report: January 2015 vs 2014

The year 2014 proved to be a golden year for the Indian Two-Wheeler industry, as the market registered a phenomenal growth during the time. Some of the manufacturer recorded an unbelievable sales figure and broke other's as well as their own records. However, some of the manufacturer slipped a bit on the sales chart. Now, let's checkout that how they have started 2015 with reference to their sales volume.

 

 

HMCL: Hero MotoCorp Pvt Ltd dispatched 5,58,982 units of two-wheelers in the month of January 2015, registering a decline of 0.4 percent. The company sold 5,61,253 units in the corresponding month last year.

 

Riding on record retail sales of over 1.1 million in the 37-day festive period (25th September -31st October 2014), Hero MotoCorp closed 2014 with sales of 66,45,787, its highest-ever achievement for any calendar year.

 

HMSI: Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd made a flying start to 2015, recording a growth of almost 5 times that of the Indian two-wheeler industry, in January’15. Clocking sales of 3,93,787 units against a corresponding figure of 3,44,750 units sold in January’14, the company recorded an overall growth of 14.22 percent. The domestic sales contributed 3,44,678 units to the overall sales last month.

 

 

BAL: Bajaj Auto Ltd has registered a sales decline of 12.23 percent by selling 2,46,955 units of two-wheelers in January 2015 against the sales of 2,81,390 units during the corresponding month, last year. However, the company is preparing some new models for this year to compete in the fierce level of competition, which might help them to turn this negative growth into positive figures.

 

TVS: Two wheeler sales of TVS Motor Company increased from 1,79,576 units in January 2014 to 1,81,516 units recorded in January 2015, registering a growth of 1.08 percent. Domestic two wheeler sales grew by 4% rising from 1,56,138 units in January last year to 1,62,284 units in corresponding month in 2015.

 

Scooters sales of the company grew by 24% where 56,032 units were retailed in January 2015 compared to 45,198 in the same period last year. Motorcycles sales grew by 7% increasing from 65,449 units in the month of January 2014 to 69,949 units in last month.

 

 

YMIS: Continuing with its upward skew of sales growth, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. has registered a growth of 20.82% in domestic sales during January’ 2015 as compared to the corresponding period last year. The company strengthened its position by clocking domestic sales of 39,309 units in 2015, compared to 32,534 units in 2014.
