Since Euro 5 norms are equivalent to BS6 norms, the India launch of the Honda CB500F isn’t all that far away

  • The 2021 version of the Honda CB500F features two new colour schemes and graphics, apart from the cleaner engine.
  • Notable features include an all-LED lighting system, assist-slipper clutch, and an LCD instrument cluster.
  • Expect the motorcycle to enter our shores via the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route.

Honda has unveiled the Euro 5-compliant 2021 CB500F for the European market. The 2021 Honda CB500F features two new colours with new graphics: Candy Caribbean Blue Sea and Candy Moon Glow Yellow, apart from the already existing Grand Prix Red and Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic options.

Despite adhering to stricter emission norms, the motorcycle makes the same power and torque as before. The 471cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine produces 47.5PS at 8600rpm and 43Nm at 6500rpm. It is linked to a 6-speed transmission with assist and slipper clutch (first introduced in the 2019 iteration). With a generous 17.1-litre fuel tank and a commendable claimed mileage of 28.6kmpl, one can theoretically cover around 480km on a full tank, making it an ideal motorcycle for touring.

On the features front, it gets an all-LED lighting system and an LCD instrument cluster with gear position indicator, shift light, and fuel consumption gauge apart from the regular set of information. It also comes with Honda Intelligent Security System (HISS) which is essentially an engine immobiliser.

The motorcycle’s diamond-type frame is suspended on a 41mm telescopic front fork with preload adjustability and a rear monoshock with 5-step preload adjustment. Its 17-inch cast aluminium wheels are shod with 120-section front and 160-section rear tubeless tyres.

According to our sources, Honda India could launch the CB500F in the first half of 2021. It will first enter our shores via the CKD route and is likely to command a price of Rs 4.8 lakh (ex-showroom). If there’s enough demand, Honda might just heavily localise it, possibly bringing the price down to Rs 3.70-4 lakh. Check out more details about the bike here.
