The country’s second largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) showed a pleasing upsales of three percent in comparison to the corresponding month of previous year. Going by exact numbers, the company has sold 3,67,226 units in May, 2015 against 3,55,530 units in May, 2014, which went against a two percent decline of the overall sales in industry in one year.

Talking about domestic sales, this area also proved fruitful for the company and has shown an increase of 3.3 percent compared to May, 2014, reaching 3,53,440 units. The exports section also witnessed a rise of 3 percent, climbing from 13,394 units to 13,786 units in May 2015.

Now, lets see the segment wise sales of the company. The automatic scooter sales increased from 2,15,300 units in May 2015 versus 189,422 units in May 2014. On the other hand, Honda motorcycles sales stood at 1,38,140 units in May 2015 to 1,52,714 units last year 2014. The month of May, 2015 saw a growth of one percent in the domestic market reaching 26 percent while the overall combined sales, i.e. domestic and exports stood at 23 percent.
The company has announced its “RETAIN.EXPAND.CREATE” strategy which aims at selling 47 lac units in FY’2015-16 and grow to sell 64 lac units by 2016. Honda two-wheelers has also won the following two prestigious awards - Gold Award in the Two Wheeler Category of Readers' Digest Trusted Brands Awards 2015 and the Most Exciting Brands 2015 in two-wheeler of Economic Times Brand Equity. It recently conducted road safety programs and gave training to over 1200 Delhi Police Female recruits, 1200 kids in Delhi and 1000 kids in Mumbai.
