Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India today announced its new record of selling over 1 million of its flagship scooter Activa during the first five months of this fiscal (FY'2015-16). It is a notable achievement of Honda after the discontinuation of Bajaj Auto. 
At a time when the whole two-wheeler industry is facing a tough time Honda has set a new milestone, redefining the scooter market in India.
Elaborating on how Activa is changing the Indian 2Wheeler industry, Mr. Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) said, “ Overtaking motorcycles to become No. 1 selling two-wheeler of India, Activa today represents the metamorphosis of the society. The superior convenience, unisex appeal coupled with product features (increased mileage, style and technology) have helped convert millions from pillion to riders themselves. Our great nation is truly under the grip of Activation & we thank all our valued Customers on this Activah vah moment.”

Activa is an automatic 125cc family scooter that has bagged the No.1 position for Honda thrice in a row since the past three years by selling a total of 2.17 lakh units in August 2015 with a cumulatively increment of 1.7 lakh units over last year.
Speaking on this achievement, Mr. Keita Muramatsu, President and CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) said, “We are excited to have started the festive season on a high note, with Activa creating a hat-trick as the No. 1, selling 2-wheeler of India for 3 consecutive months. From reactivating the scooter segment in India in 2001, Honda’s iconic Activa has slowly started penetration in rural India. Further, with the improvement in rural infrastructure in future we expect that scooter contribution has the potential to go up further.”
As per the company, scooters constitute more than a third of the two-wheeler market of which Activa alone contributes 51 per cent of sales which has reportedly grown 20 times.

Mileage is great. It gives pretty smooth drive experience and I liked it, the breaks were smooth, neither too hard nor too soft. And I can drive it easily. Its weight is also easy to handle. I can comfortably lift the scooter on my own. Yes, I will surely recommend this bike and I have already recommended to my relatives. I have its blue colour which looks awesome. It is pretty good and I actually like it. The inside storage is also pretty decent to store so many things and the button nob for petrol is also good.
