Honda says it’ll be priced below Rs 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom)

Update - Honda CB300R Launched In India

Honda says it’ll be priced below Rs 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom)

    • Bookings open at all 22 Honda Wing World dealerships across the country
    • Booking amount has been set at Rs 5,000
    • CB300R will be launched via the CKD route
    • Will be available in two colours: Matte Axis Gray Metallic and Candy Chromosphere Red

Honda 2Wheelers India has announced that it will launch its small-capacity, neo-retro naked, the CB300R. The manufacturer has also confirmed that the motorcycle will be brought to India via the CKD (completely knocked down) route. Despite it being a CKD offering, Honda says the CB300R will be competitively priced below the Rs 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom) mark.

The Honda CB300R was unveiled globally in April 2018. Honda is likely to launch the bike in March this year. When launched, it will be the only neo-retro naked street bike in its segment. The new 300cc bike will also be the smallest capacity motorcycle from Honda to be assembled in India. Powering the bike is a 286cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder DOHC engine which churns out 31.4PS at 8500rpm and 27.5Nm at 7500rpm. The motor will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox. While the international-spec bike wears Dunlop radials, expect the India-spec bike to run on MRFs to keep costs in check.

The primary rivals for the upcoming bike include the BMW G 310 R and the KTM 390 Duke. Outside of its segment, it also competes with the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. However, the engine capacity and the power figure of the Interceptor are vastly different when compared to the Japanese motorcycle. Here’s Honda’s official statement:

      Honda CB300R handles very poorly
I personally feel that Honda CB300R handles very poorly compared to other bikes in this segment. The bike being light in weight, high wind speeds easily topples the whole bike and makes it exceedingly unstable at speeds above 80 kilometers per hour. I ride this bikes at city approx 34 kmpl on soft throttle which is low. I do not even hard push the bike on highways.
