UPDATE: Honda has launched the Activa 6G in two variants, and you can read more about it here.

More features, fresh styling, an updated engine and more

We already know quite a bit about the upcoming Honda Activa 6G. We know when it’s going to be launched, we know about its power output, and its dimensions as well. Of course, there are still quite a few things we don’t know about this highly anticipated scooter, but that hasn’t stopped us from doing a bit of educated guesswork. So here’s what you can expect from the Honda Activa 6G when it’s launched later this month:

A Fresh New Look

We’ve gotten our hands on RTO certification documents for the upcoming Activa 6G, and these show a 76mm increase in overall length over the Activa 5G. This indicates Honda has FINALLY revised the styling of the Activa, something that was long overdue. The current generation already uses an LED headlight, but expect the 6G to get a new design and redesigned bodywork too.

Engine Overhaul

This 6G update has been necessitated by upcoming BS6 emission norms, so the most heavily affected area is, of course, the engine. While the current scooter is powered by a BS4-compliant 109.19cc carburetted motor, the 6G’s heart will be in the form of a BS6-compliant 109.51cc fuel-injected engine. This will be silently brought to life by an ACG starter, and Honda might even throw in a stop-start system to increase fuel efficiency.

More Features

The increase in length could also mean an external fuel filler, which should definitely be offered as standard in today’s day and age. The aforementioned certification documents also suggest that the new Activa, like the present one, will get a semi-digital instrument cluster. Considering the addition of fuel injection, this digital screen could be used to display information like instantaneous and average fuel efficiency, and distance-to-empty. Things like a combination key slot and optional underseat charging port will be carried over from the current Activa.

Similar Underpinnings

This is one area where we don’t expect Honda to shake things up too much. The 6G will stick with the trailing link front suspension design and employ a monoshock at the rear. Unfortunately, we won’t see alloy wheels either, and the Activa will continue to soldier on with pressed steel units. This also rules out the possibility of a front disc brake, so expect drum stoppers at both ends.

Variants & Pricing

Considering the addition of fuel injection as well as the extra features, expect a variant-for-variant price increase of around Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000 over the Activa 5G. We expect the 6G to be offered in two variants: a basic variant with analogue instrumentation and a halogen headlight, and a higher-spec version with a semi-digital cluster and an LED headlight. The only other 110cc BS6-compliant scooter on the market at the moment is the TVS Jupiter Classic BS6.
