Harley-Davidson India has launched the Sportster 1200 Custom in the country at a price of Rs. 8.90 lac onwards (ex-showroom, Delhi). The launch took place in Jaisalmer during the Harley NH Zero Ride that kick started yesterday from Jodhpur and will conclude on January 30. As we earlier reported, the bike had already reached the dealerships a day before launch.
Harley Davidson 1200 Custom draws its power from a 1,202cc, Evolution, air-cooled engine that has been linked to a five-speed transmission. The bike sits on a mild steel tubular frame and has been equipped with 30mm forks up front and dual coil over threaded preload adjustment shock absorbers at the rear. The 1200 Custom gets its stopping power from single disc brake with dual-piston at both ends, with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) as standard. The company has equipped the bike with Michelin Scorcher 31 tyres for better grip and on-road stability.
Harley Davidson has integrated the bike with numerous interesting features such as pull back handlebar, two-up custom seat, smart security system with hands-free, proximity based, security fob and keyless ignition. The company has also given wide customization options to its buyers to choose from that are available for seat, handlebar, wheels, foot controls, paint and graphics and engine finish. The bike will be on sale at the dealerships in three colours namely Vivid Black, Charcoal Pearl and Superior Blue along with three dual tone colours. The company has also given various options of pinstriping to its customers that are different for single as well as dual tone colour options. I doubt if even harley can ever remake this beast. 7 years of ownership and almost 25k kms driven and every time I ride, the experience is unreal. The engine roars when you ride it. The torque is overkill for the cities but on highways the bike merges with your soul as you accelerate. There are no much electronics, just a small instrument cluster, no fancy features or high end technology. Its just the feel and presence you get while riding the pure metal perfection with that powerful twin engine that makes you the centre of attraction every where you go.Read More
