Ducati Panigale V2 Launching Today

Ducati has launched its first BS6 motorcycle, the Panigale V2 at Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom India). Thats a premium of Rs 1.7 lakh over its predessesor, the Panigale 959. The Panigale V2 is styled similar to Ducati’s flagship, the Panigale V4, and gets new goodies as well. Ducati dealerships across India have been accepting pre-bookings for the new V2 since July for a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. Deliveries for the new motorcycle are expected to commence soon.

Along with the new bodywork, the Panigale V2 also gets sharp LED headlamps. It gets a colour TFT instrument console as well. The new Panigale V2 continues to use some of its predecessor’s styling cues like a single sided swingarm and underbelly exhaust but with a differently styled end can. Overall, the Panigale V2 looks cleaner and sharper than the Panigale 959.

The 955cc liquid-cooled L-twin has been carried over from the Panigale 959 but has been fettled for more performance and also clear BS6 emission norms. It now delivers 155PS at 10,750rpm and 104Nm at 9000rpm, which is 5PS and 2Nm more than the Panigale 959’s outputs. IMU based electronic rider aids include three riding modes, an 8-level traction control, wheelie control, engine brake control, a bi-directional quickshifter, and cornering ABS.

The Panigale V2 gets high-end, fully-adjustable suspension components in the form of Showa Big Piston forks and a Sachs monoshock. Braking is via dual 320mm discs with Brembo M4.32 radial monobloc calipers and a 245mm rear disc. The brake setup is the same as the Panigale 959 and we feel that Ducati should have atleast upgraded the calipers with M50 monoblocks.

The Ducati Panigale V2 is the only middleweight supersport on sale in India. Kawasaki is yet to launch the Ninja ZX-6R BS6 while Triumph’s Daytona 765 is still some time away. While the Panigale V2 is currently available in just Ducati Red colour option, the Italian bikmaker could launch the bike in White Rosso colours later.
