TVS Orbiter Variants Explained: Price, Features, Which One To Buy?
The top variant offers almost double the range, for Rs 16,650 more
The TVS Orbiter is now available in two variants: V1 and V2, with both offering the same features and hardware, but differing mainly in battery capacity and range. With a strong focus on practicality and affordability, the Orbiter range caters to everyday urban commuters looking to switch to electric mobility. Here’s a detailed breakdown of both variants to help you decide which one to buy:
TVS Orbiter V1
Price – Rs 88,250 (ex-showroom, Delhi)
The TVS Orbiter V1 is the base variant, and was launched recently. However, it doesn’t feel barebones at all. It comes packed with features and offers everything you would expect from a modern electric scooter. You get a large 34-litre underseat storage, a coloured LCD console with smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, SMS/call alerts, and even cruise control. There’s also a reverse mode, and two ride modes: Eco and City.
The V1 gets a 1.8kWh battery pack, which delivers a claimed range of 86km. Its 650W charger takes 2 hours 20 minutes to top-up the 1.8kWh battery from 0 to 80%, making it fairly convenient for daily use. The e-scooter is powered by a 1.80kW motor. Since the battery is smaller than V2, the scooter is also lighter, at 101kg (kerb). This allows it to have a quicker acceleration than the V2, managing 0 to 40kmph in 6.30 seconds. Its light weight should also make it easy to handle in city traffic. It has an accessible 760mm seat height, so it should be suitable for a wide range of riders.
The scooter uses a conventional telescopic fork, and twin rear shock absorbers, with a 14-inch front and a 12-inch rear wheel setup. The V1 is offered in two subtle colour options: Martian Copper and Lunar Grey, for a clean and mature look. If your daily commute is relatively short, this variant offers excellent value for money. In fact, it is also offered with battery as a subscription scheme, with monthly charges starting from Rs 862, over and above the scooter’s cost (without battery) of Rs 49,999.
TVS Orbiter V2
Price – Rs 1,04,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi)
The TVS Orbiter V2 is identical to the V1, but it gets a 3.1kWh battery pack, which bumps the claimed range up to 158km (72km more than the V1). This makes a noticeable difference for riders who travel longer distances or prefer fewer charging stops. However, the larger battery also means that the charging time is 2 hours 10 minutes longer. It takes 4 hours and 10 minutes to get charged from 0 to 80%, using the same 650W charger.
Performance is slightly more relaxed compared to the V1, with a 0 to 40kmph time of 6.80 seconds. This is because of the larger battery pack that increases the kerb weight to 112kg. Apart from the battery and range, the V2 remains identical to the V1. It gets the same features, underpinnings, storage space, and overall design. However, it does offer a wider palette of six colour options: Neon Sunburst, Stratos Blue, Lunar Grey, Martian Copper, Cosmic Titanium, and Stellar Silver – catering to both younger and more mature buyers.
Priced at Rs 16,650 more than the V1, the V2 justifies its premium with a much higher range and added flexibility.
BikeDekho Says
The TVS Orbiter range stands out as one of the more accessible electric scooters in the segment. Both variants come equally loaded with features, and the decision ultimately comes down to how much range you need.
If your daily usage is limited and mostly within the city, the V1 offers great value while being lighter and slightly quicker. However, if range is a priority and you want the freedom to ride longer distances without worrying about charging, the V2 is the better and more practical choice despite the higher price. Good pickup, stylish design as the colour combination looks futuristic. TVS is a big brand, so service is very good and easy to find. Built quality is also one of the good reason to pickup this bike. It gives great experience. The range is a big concern while going to college. Except that, everything is very good like the pickup while overtaking vehicles, durability during pot-holes and a suspension works good. Yes, If you are looking for good service, take a look of this, may be the price and range doesn't match but the service and experience is very good. So I recommend this bike for short range travellers who don't want ot take risk.Read More
