Yamaha R15M: All You Need To Know

The Yamaha R15M adds a TFT screen, standard quickshifter, and sharp looks to the proven R15 V4 package; here’s everything you need to know

The Yamaha R15M is the more premium version of the R15 available in India. While the standard R15 V4 is already a capable supersport, the R15M takes things a step further with exclusive styling and a full-colour connected TFT console as standard. Here's everything it has to offer:

Price & Positioning

The R15M is Yamaha's flagship 155cc supersport in India. It's aimed at buyers who want all the features Yamaha offers on the R15 platform. Refer to the table below for the colour / Edition price details:

Colour / Edition

Ex-Showroom Price (Delhi)

Metallic Grey

Rs 1,88,130

Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition

Rs 1,89,630

Icon Performance / Carbon Edition

Rs 1,98,340

The R15M costs at least Rs 15,000 more than the standard R15 V4. If you opt for the top-spec Icon Performance (Carbon Edition), that difference goes up to Rs 25,000.

Design & Styling

Visually, this bike shares heavily from Yamaha's bigger supersport machines like the YZF-R1 and R7. On the front, you get an aggressive fairing with a central LED projector headlamp, flanked by sharp LED DRLs.

Premium finishing is really what sets the M variant apart from the standard R15 V4. A premium golden-finished USD fork, a special embroidered seat cover, a gold-finished front brake caliper, and carbon-fibre highlights on the bodywork, along with a 3D Yamaha branding on the fuel tank, round off its looks

Features

Tech-wise, the R15M doesn't hold back. Its color TFT display is crisp and legible, and the layout itself changes depending on whether you're in Track or Street mode. Note that these are just display modes. We wish Yamaha gave it dedicated riding modes.

Y-Connect Bluetooth connectivity runs through the console, feeding you directions (turn-by-turn navigation), call and SMS alerts, phone battery status, your last parked location, and maintenance reminders, all on-screen. Beyond that, a quickshifter handles clutchless upshifts, and a traction control system keeps things in check.

Safety & Hardware

The R15M's sharp handling is courtesy of the well-tuned Deltabox frame. Suspension duties are handled by 37mm upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock. The setup is on the firmer side, which works well on smooth roads and twisty sections, but you will feel more of the bumps and potholes during your daily commute.

Braking comes from a 282mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc, backed by dual-channel ABS as standard. The braking performance is confidence-inspiring for everyday riding, while the 17-inch alloy wheels and wide 140-section rear tyre offer plenty of grip. At 141kg kerb, the R15M also feels light and easy to flick through corners.

Engine & Performance

Power comes from a 155cc, liquid-cooled engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). It puts out 18.4PS and 14.2Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch for smoother downshifts.

In our road test, it returned a solid real-world mileage of around 55kmpl. With its 11-litre fuel tank, you can easily get a range of 450 to 500km on a single fill-up, which is impressive for a sport bike.

BikeDekho Says

The R15M makes the most sense if you want a supersport that truly looks special. As a bonus, the TFT console is a delight to use too. If you'll genuinely use the extra features, the R15M is worth the premium. On the other hand, if you want the same performance for less and don't need the extra tech, the standard R15 V4 is the smarter buy.

Neat condition bike with awesome road presence

This bike is very good while daily riding is the main factor as the mileage is very good like 43 kmpl in city traffic and the maintenance cost is very low if you ride the bike properly. Also the road presence particularly of this edition is great. If you wish to look good while getting an optimum performance then you can definitely go for it. In my case this bike is in neat condition without any damages or missing parts. All the services done on time and so the warranty is valid.Read More
