This variant of the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V comes with a few goodies that even the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V misses out on

Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition: Features ExplainedHero MotorCorp has launched the new Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition. It is a premium 160cc sporty commuter bike, and now with the Combat Edition (also called Xtreme 160R 4V Cruise Control variant), Hero has also added some segment-first (and useful) features to this bike. Here is what all features it offer:

    Lighting Setup

Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition: Features Explained

The new Combat Edition of the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V comes with an all new LED headlight, that is the same as the bigger Hero Xtreme 250R. It also features a neatly integrated DRL and makes the bike look sharper and more aggressive than before. Along with this, the tail section has also been updated and the bike gets a new design for the LED taillight.

    Instrument Console

Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition: Features Explained

The Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Cruise Control variant gets a 4.2-inch colour LCD console, same as the Hero Glamour X 125. It shows the speedometer, odometer, real-time mileage, distance-to-empty, gear position indicator, and telltale lights. It also comes with smartphone connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation, and SMS/call alerts. Along with this, the console comes with a fun feature called the Drag Race Timer, which basically records the 0-60kmph, and quarter mile acceleration timings. We recommend using this feature only on race tracks.

    Cruise Control

Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition: Features Explained

The new Hero Xtreme 160R 4V top variant offers two segment-first features: ride-by-wire throttle and cruise control. Ride-by-wire throttle uses an electronic wire to control the throttle instead of a regular cable. This has allowed Hero to add a cruise control system to the bike. Using the switch on the right-hand side, the rider can activate cruise control and set a particular speed. This is useful on open highways as it helps reduce fatigue by keeping the bike at a fixed speed without using the throttle. Use this feature only if the highway is empty, with no traffic.

    Riding Modes

Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition: Features Explained

The Xtreme gets three riding modes: Rain, Road, and Sport. These modes don’t change the actual power but adjust how it is delivered. Rain keeps things smooth and focuses on a relatively laidback throttle response. Road gives a mix of performance and efficiency, while Power mode ensures the best performance, but at the cost of outright mileage.

    i3S Stop-Start Tech

Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition: Features Explained

The bike comes with Hero’s i3S stop-start system, which turns off the engine when the bike is idle or standing still and starts it again when the clutch is pulled in. This helps improve mileage in heavy traffic and lowers running costs.

Other standard features include a USB charging port, and a side-stand engine cut-off feature which switches off the engine if the side stand is extended.

    Panic Brake Alert

Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition: Features Explained

The Hero Xtreme 160R 4V also features a ‘Panic Brake Alert’ system that flashes both indicators and the tail lamp during sudden or emergency braking situations.

    BikeDekho Says

With the Combat Edition, Hero aims to make the 160cc Xtreme a bit more wholesome than before. At the price of Rs 1,34,100 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the bike is only 4,485 more expensive than the base model. This is a reasonable premium for this massive upgrade in features.

Although the bike is not as feature-packed as the recently updated TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, it is still around Rs 1,740 more affordable. Apart from the Apache, it will also go up against the Bajaj Pulsar NS160, which comes with segment-first ABS modes.

Total honest review after 6000 km
I choose this bike for its sporty looks, power and the balanced light weight body which made it good for every day commuting (on highways) also had a really good acceleration and low end tourq for the city over takes. Pros: 1. Light weight and light handling. 2. Good low end tourq for city. 3. Looks are also stunning. 4. Comfortable in ride even if drove around 300 km a day. Cons: 1. Top end is not very well, feels under power after 75. 2. The limiter hits early each gear. 3. Build is not very reliable. 4. Mileage drops rapidly as soon as you drove a little harsh. This bike is okay for city tour and every day commuting, even though the power to weight ratio is good on paper, in every day life it isn't. Also the build quality is not very well as recently had an minor accident and the left usd broke, rim got bent. Leaving that side, it has a great acceleration till 70-80 after then the engine gets some stress. Mileage is also not a great highlight in this but ok around 35-37. So in the conclusion, I would recommend this bike only for normal usage, don't have any high hopes from this bike.
