BS6 Yamaha FZ-FI And FZS-FI Launched In India

Yamaha will follow this up with the launch of BS6 R15 V3.0 and BS6 Fascino

• The new FZ-FI and FZS-FI cost Rs 2,500 and Rs 2,600 more than its outgoing versions. 
• FZS-FI gets 2 new colours, Darknight variant cost Rs 1,500 more. 
• Updated 149cc Bs6 motor now makes 0.8PS less power but 0.8Nm more torque than before. 

Yamaha has launched its first BS6 products in the country in the form of the FZ-FI and FZS-FI. Both motorcycles get an updated BS6 motor with revised power outputs. Cosmetic changes have been limited to just the introduction of two premium colours in the FZ-S range. The new FZ-FI and FZS-FI now cost Rs 99,200 and Rs 1,01,200 respectively (both ex-showroom India). That’s a hike of Rs 2,500 for the FZ-FI and Rs 2,600 for the FZS-FI.

The FZS-FI gets two new colours: Darknight and Metallic Red. While the Metallic Red variant costs the same, Darknight costs Rs 102,700, which is Rs 1,500 more. 

Both motorcycles are powered by an updated BS6 149cc air-cooled motor. The new motor delivers 12.4PS at 7250rpm — 0.8PS less than the BS4 FZ-FI models. However, its 13.6Nm at 5500rpm torque output is 0.8Nm more than before. Both peak power and torque outputs are delivered at lower rpm than before. The updates are expected to make the new BS6 models better to ride in the city. 

Yamaha has done well by keeping prices in check for the new BS6 models. While the FZ-S and FZS-FI are the company’s first BS6 models, Yamaha is expected to launch BS6 variants of the Fascino and R15 V3.0 by the end of this year.

Chennai, November 09, 2019: India Yamaha Motor (IYM) Pvt. Ltd. introduces the all new FZ-FI (149 cc) and FZS-FI (149 cc) today in India, thus marking the first BS VI variant rollout from the company in India. Yamaha reiterates its commitment to offer excitement through its products and related experiences with its first launch of BS VI compliant FZs. All colour models of both FZ-FI (149 cc) and FZS-FI (149 cc) will be available in the BS VI line up. Additionally, FZS-FI (149 cc) will have two new colours – Darknight and Metallic Red. The company will further announce the launch of other BS VI compliant line ups in coming time.

Inheriting FZ’s legacy and signature styling, the new FZ-FI and FZS-FI comes with a Blue Core concept driven 149 cc engine with a compression ratio of 9.6:1 and delivering a maximum 12.4 PS power @ 7,250 r/min and 13.6 N.m torque @ 5,500 r/min. The new FZ-FI and FZS-FI BS VI version will feature single channel ABS in the front wheel and front & rear disc brakes along with negative LCD instrument cluster and a single piece two level seat.
