After launching the 2021 Ducati Diavel 1260 in June and the Multistrada V4 last month, the Italian bikemaker has followed it up with the 2021 Ducati XDiavel range. Take a look at the variant-wise ex-showroom India prices and their comparison with the prices of the Diavel 1260:
The base variant of this achingly gorgeous performance cruiser is called the XDiavel Dark. The company has not offered the S variant here yet. Aesthetically, the XDiavel looks like a sleeker version of the Diavel 1260, but makes 1.36PS and 2Nm less.
Unveiled back in November 2020, Ducati has made the 2021 iteration’s 1262cc L-twin engine run cleaner to comply with Euro 5/BS6 emission norms. Additionally, the engine produces about 8PS more than before, with 160PS arriving at 9500rpm. With 127Nm coming in at 5000rpm, the peak torque output is 1Nm more than before. Of course, Ducati has blessed the bike with a plethora of electronic aids, including Sport, Touring, and Urban riding modes, traction control, launch control, cruise control, and cornering ABS courtesy the Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU).
The two variants employ a fully adjustable inverted front fork and a preload- and rebound-adjustable rear monoshock. While the base Dark variant is anchored by Brembo M4.32 radial calipers with 320mm discs up front, the Black Star model features more premium (read: powerful) Brembo M50 calipers. The rear wheel of both variants sports a 265mm disc with Brembo 2-piston calipers.

While the standard variant rolls on cast alloy wheels, the Black Star variant gets a pair of nicer looking, forged and machined alloys which are also 2kg lighter. It also features a premium suede seat cover, forged and anodised frame plates, a blacked-out powertrain with matte black aluminium belt covers, billet aluminium rear view mirrors, and the Ducati Multimedia System (Ducati’s term for smartphone connectivity) as standard. Besides, both variants get all-LED lighting and a TFT instrument cluster.
If the new Italian Devil isn’t up to your tastes, you could look at the only other performance-oriented cruiser alternative: the manic Triumph Rocket 3 retailing from Rs 19.35 lakh (ex-showroom India). It also packs the world’s largest engine on a production motorcycle, churning out a gut-wrenching 221Nm of torque and a tarmac-searing 167PS of power! Which one would you go for? Having recently had the exhilarating opportunity to take the Ducati XDiavel Dark Edition for a spin, I can confidently say this cruiser is a captivating blend of power and style that left a lasting impression. First and foremost, the aesthetic of the XDiavel Dark Edition is nothing short of breathtaking. The all-black color scheme exudes a sense of stealthy sophistication that immediately catches the eye. It's not just a motorcycle; it's a work of art on wheels, turning heads wherever it goes. When it comes to performance, the XDiavel Dark Edition doesn't disappoint. The 1,262cc Testastretta DVT engine delivers a thrilling combination of power and torque, making every ride an adrenaline-pumping experience. Cruising on the highway or unleashing the bike's full potential on open roads is an absolute joy. What truly sets the XDiavel Dark Edition apart is its advanced electronics package. The array of riding modes, traction control, and cornering ABS allow for a personalized riding experience, adapting to different road conditions and riding styles. The intuitive TFT display adds a modern touch, providing easy access to essential information and settings. As someone who values both comfort and aggression in a cruiser, the XDiavel Dark Edition struck the perfect balance. The forward-set footpegs and low-slung handlebars contribute to a relaxed riding position, allowing for long and enjoyable journeys. The muscular design elements not only enhance the bike's performance but also add a touch of raw, unbridled power. In 2017, I purchased this bike, and it has been in my possession ever since. However, I must caution that the maintenance costs can be high if you don't live in a dealership town, where the dealer network might not be readily available. So, unless you have easy access to a Ducati dealership, I would advise against buying one. On the positive side, the bike's power and performance are truly exhilarating, and it offers a very comfortable ride. I've even ridden it for up to 600 kilometers in a single day, and it remained stable on highways, especially at high speeds. Nonetheless, I must mention that the wind blast can be awful. One remarkable feature is its ability to maintain highway speeds of 120 for an extended period, and it even comes equipped with cruise control. In terms of safety, it boasts wheelie control, ABS, and traction control. Overall, this bike is packed with technology, and you can even enjoy the convenience of keyless entry through a password system. However, it's crucial to exercise caution while riding in the rain, as the rainwater can potentially block the radiator and lead to overheating issues. To optimize its performance, it's best to stick with premium fuels like XP95. Lastly, be prepared to have the urge to capture numerous pictures of this bike, as it's undeniably stunning and eye-catching.
What to say about this bike, words are not enough to describe this bike, superb power, a complete monster rather a devil in disguise.
