The test mule looks just as futuristic as the concept did

The BMW Motorrad CE 04, unveiled as a concept last year, has now been spotted in the flesh. Even with the test mule being completely blacked out, it reveals quite a few interesting details.

In the motoring world, concept designs usually undergo major revision before making it to the road as a production model. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case with the CE 04’s test mule, which has carried over the same bulky and edgy bodywork.

The steep front fascia employing the LED lights with vent-like side panels have also been retained. However, the test model gets turn indicators at both ends as well as a pair of mirrors in order to make it road legal.

The large 10.25 inch screen has made it to the production version as well. Along with the skateboard-like chassis, the battery pack still sits inside the footboard and the motor continues to be situated closer to the rear wheel, just like the concept. Even the storage compartment with its opening on the side remains unaltered.

For the road-going model, BMW seems to have replaced the CE 04 concept’s shark fin rear fender with a full-size unit along with a license plate holder. However, the rear wheel cover has stayed intact.

The spy shots reveal that the upcoming BMW e-scooter could be sprung on a telescopic front fork and an offset rear shock. The concept displayed dual discs up front whereas the test mule only shows a single disc on the right.

If this is exactly what the production model for the CE 04 will look like, then all it needs is the appropriate performance figures. The pricing will likely be premium and it shouldn’t take too long to know if this becomes BMW’s big ticket into the world of electric scooters.
