Almost 7k Ola S1 E-scooters Delivered In Feb: CEO Bhavish Aggarwal

Company CEO Bhavish Aggarwal claims deliveries will more than double in March
The delivery numbers seem to be growing exponentially for Ola Electric as company CEO Bhavish Aggarwal claimed in a recent tweet that it has delivered “almost 7000 vehicles in Feb(sic)”. Moreover, Aggarwal has mentioned in his tweet that the total deliveries in March “will touch 15,000”.
According to the Vahan portal, Ola Electric registered 3,905 electric scooters in February. However, this registration data does not include all the states, so the numbers do not paint an accurate picture of the market performance. Commenting about this discrepancy, Aggarwal said in his tweet, “Vahan says 4000 since we do a lot of temp (sic) registrations (much more than other brands, given our D2C model) which are not counted in Vahan.”

Ola Electric commenced deliveries in December 2021. As per the Vahan portal, a total of 6,536 Ola S1 electric scooters have been registered to date. The company earlier claimed in January that it had shipped almost 4,000 e-scooters.

For perspective, Ather Energy sold 2,042 units of the Ather 450X in February. However, it must be noted that Ola Electric’s sheer scale of production and financial backing is much more formidable than Ather Energy. In fact, Ola Electric ramped up production to 1,000 units a day in January this year.
If the claimed numbers are indeed the reality, then the Ola S1 is well on course for becoming one of the highest-selling electric scooters in the country. Unlike a traditional dealership-oriented sales approach, Ola sells its electric scooter directly to customers in a centralised manner. In related news, the company also announced in January that it will invest Rs 750 crore in a new UK-based development center.

Pros and disadvantages pros: If you want this for short, everyday trips, get it since it's affordable and won't affect the environment much. It also has more features than any other scooter. Cons: This bike's noise occasionally comes from certain components, such as its headlight and disc brake, and I didn't particularly like the way it looked. It may also not be as effective in rural areas where there is a lack of electricity and electric stations as well as poor roads, making it less likely to perform as well. My recommendation is that you utilise it for daily activities and sporadic trips.Read More
