Honda has launched India’s first BS6-compliant two-wheeler, the 2019 Activa 125. Like the previous-generation Activa 125, this scooter too comes in three different variants: standard, alloy wheel and deluxe. All three variants get crucial features like the new ACG starter motor, fuel injection and external fuel filler as standard. Apart from differences in the brakes and wheels, there’s a lot more that differentiates the three variants. Let’s take a look then, shall we?
Standard variant:
Priced at Rs 67,490, the standard variant misses out features like the LED headlamp, semi-digital instrument console and alloy wheels. Instead, it comes with a halogen headlamp and an analogue instrument cluster. There’s no range or realtime/average fuel efficiency readout either. It also makes do with steel wheels and drum brakes on both ends. However, it does get the side-stand engine cut-off as an option. For added convenience, it also comes with an engine kill switch as standard.
Alloy wheel variant:
Interestingly, for just Rs 3,500 more, the mid-spec variant offers alloy wheels, useful information like real-time efficiency, range and others (in the instrument console’s digital inset) and an LED headlamp too. This variant also gets the engine kill switch and side stand engine cut-off function as standard.
Deluxe variant:
At Rs 74,490, the Deluxe variant commands a premium of Rs 3,500 over the Alloy wheel variant, which seems to be a bit too steep as the only additional bits you get are a 190mm front disc and Honda’s Idling Stop System. The side stand engine cut-off function is standard in both deluxe and alloy wheel variant. Instead of an engine kill switch, this variant gets a switch to toggle the Idling Stop System.
