2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 Launched In India

Bajaj has finally launched the much anticipated 2019 Dominar 400 in India Rs 1.73 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). This makes the 2019 model just Rs 10,795 more expensive than the outgoing model. Given the significant mechanical and cosmetic updates, the flagship Bajaj bike offers tremendous value. Deliveries for the new Bajaj bike will commence from the second week of April.
Powering the new Dominar 400 is the same 373.3cc, liquid-cooled engine as seen on its predecessor. However, the new motor gets a new DOHC (Dual OverHead Camshaft) and even the compression ratio has been increased from 11.3:1 to 12.1:1. With this, the power output has been increased from 35PS to 40PS. Torque output of 35Nm remains unchanged, but it's now made at 7,000rpm (500rpm higher than before). Bajaj also claims that the new Dominar 400 is 0.7seconds quicker to 100kph than its predecessor and has a top speed of 156kmph. Transmission duties are handled by the same six-speed unit with a slipper clutch as seen on the older bike.
Another significant update is the inclusion of upside-down forks, and the spring rate on the rear monoshock has been revised as well. While the rotor remains identical (320mm front and 230mm rear), Bajaj engineers have replaced the axially-mounted front caliper with a radial unit. The perimeter frame remains untouched, but the revision in cycle parts mean that the new Dominar tips the scale at 184kg (2kg more than the outgoing model).
In terms of design, Bajaj has made some minor tweaks to make it look fresh. The gold-finished alloy wheels are now replaced by new dual-tone alloy wheels. Other changes include new rear view mirrors, forged aluminium stalks, new side stand, a redesigned instrument cluster, bungee straps and a new paint option. Also, the 2019 model gets a redesigned double barrel exhaust system.
