In India, the styling of a bike is one of the essential criteria for its success, and that is why faired motorcycles are so popular nowadays. What making this formula so appealing is the huge appearance of these faired bikes, which make you feel like you’re standing apart from the crowd. Earlier, there were very limited options in fully-faired motorcycles in the Indian market, especially in an affordable price range. However, manufacturers have now understood the demand of the youth, and now we have so many options which start below Rs 1 lakh. Below, we bring you the top 5 affordable full-faired bikes that you can buy right now in India.
Honda CBR150R:
Looking identical to its bigger sibling, the Honda CBR150R is a full-faired 150cc motorcycle, inspired by the Honda VFR1200F in its design. Priced at Rs 1.24 lakh, it is one of the most affordable full faired bikes in India. Rather than an aggressive sportsbike seating posture, the bike comes with comfortable geometry which makes it a good option for touring. Besides the stylish full body fairing, the bike gets an attractive and bright headlamp unit, wide tubeless tyres, front and rear disc brakes and the most powerful 150cc engine in the market, with liquid-cooling and PGM-FI (fuel injection) technology.
Bajaj Pulsar RS200:
With a price tag of Rs 1.20 lakh, the Bajaj Pulsar RS200 is the most powerful and fastest option in its price range. It is the flagship model from the Indian manufacturer and comes with an aggressive Bumblebee-like styling from the movie Transformers. Powered by a 200cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected motor, the bike delivers 24.5PS of power and has a top speed of over 140kmph. Besides the race-derived perimeter frame, the ergonomics of the bike are set a bit on the comfortable side. Standard key features of the RS200 are twin projector headlamps, gas-charged rear monoshock suspension, front and rear disc brakes, while ABS is offered as optional extra for Rs 12,000.
Yamaha YZF-R15:
Designed for the racetrack, the Yamaha YZF-R15 is an entry-level track-focused motorcycle. The bike comes in two trim options, starting at Rs 1.15 lakh for the S version, and Rs 1.18 for the Version 2.0. The only difference between these versions is the seat, which is split in the Version 2.0, causing a higher raised tail section. The bike uses a liquid-cooled, fuel injected engine, making it the fastest 150cc in the market, with a top speed of 135kmph. The bike features new lightweight alloy wheels, wide radial rear tyre, front and rear disc brakes, linked-type monoshock suspension, Deltabox frame, and a cast aluminium swingarm.
Hero Karizma ZMR:
Although the 2014 Hero Karizma ZMR failed to impress buyers with its new styling, it is a good option on the performance basis. With the updated 223cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine the bike delivers 20.26PS and a healthy torque of 19.7Nm at just 6,000rpm, making it a good option for touring. Priced at Rs 1.06 lakh, it comes with a large windscreen, dual headlamps, elaborate and easy-to-read instrument cluster, front and rear disc brakes, and comfortable ergonomics, which further enhances its capabilities as a tourer.
Suzuki Gixxer SF:
The most affordable full faired bike in India is the Suzuki Gixxer SF, with a starting price tag of Rs 88,205. The sports tourer-styled motorcycle is inspired by the legendary Suzuki GSX series of supersport and superbikes, and also comes with a similar MotoGP paint option as an optional extra. Powering the bike is a 155cc, air-cooled, carburetted motor which makes it the least powerful fully-faired bike here on this list. However, performance is not what this bike has been made for. With a very comfortable seating posture and features like wide tubeless tyres, front disc brake, adjustable rear monoshock, beefy 41mm front forks, and smart digital instrumentation, the bike serves well for both your daily commuting and weekend rides. Also, the Suzuki Gixxer SF is now available with a rear disc brake option, endowing it with better braking performance.
