Overview

The Vespa SXL 125 is a premium scooter in the 125cc segment, flaunting classic Italian styling and carrying the brand's iconic DNA. Let’s find out more about the 125cc retro scooter:
Design

The SXL 125 gets a neo-retro bodywork inspired by the Vespas of the older days. The scooter gets a rectangular headlight design, rear-view mirrors, and chrome highlights that complement its overall design.
The sportier Racing Sixties variant gets a 1960s-inspired colour scheme with a pinstripe, and an additional windscreen.
Features

The Vespa SXL 125 model has a modern LED headlight with daytime running lights. The SXL range of scooters stands out with its rectangular headlights and rear-view mirrors. It has a semi-digital instrument panel showing your speed, odometer, fuel level, time, and basic tell-tale lights.
For added convenience, the SXL 125 includes a handy under-seat storage light and a USB charging port. The Racing Sixties variant gets a 1960s-style paint job and an extra windscreen for a unique look. It lacks smartphone connectivity, something that every other 125cc scooter comes with.
Riding Posture & Comfort

The SXL 125 gets a long single-piece well-cushioned seat. This along with the upright riding stance should make it comfortable for the city. The large pillion grab handle, while looks a bit crude, is functional enough for the pillion to secure themselves.
Engine, Mileage & Performance

The Vespa SXL 125 is powered by a 124.45cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected 3-valve SOHC engine that delivers a total output of 9.77PS at 7400 rpm and 10.11Nm at 5600 rpm, paired with a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). The three-valve SOHC (Single Overhead Camshaft) engine provides better breathing, hence better combustion in the engine as compared to a 2-valve engine. The SXL 125 delivers a real-world tested mileage of 47.75kmpl. This coupled with the reasonably large 7.4-litre fuel tank should provide ample range.
Handling & Ride Quality

The Vespa SXL 125 should offer responsive handling thanks to the steel monocoque chassis. The ‘aircraft-derived’ bottom link fork is designed to reduce dive under hard braking as compared to a conventional telescopic fork. With a seat height of 770mm, it is accessible to shorter riders.
Should you buy Vespa SXL 125

If you are looking for a premium scooter with a retro design that stands out from the crowd, the Vespa SXL 125 is the perfect pick. If you want more performance in your scooter, then you can also check out the Vespa SXL 150.
Pros & Cons
Good Things

Could Be Better
- It is quite expensive for a 125cc scooter
- Does not get smartphone connectivity or an extensive features list like its rivals
- Suspension is on the firmer side and as a result, ride quality is not that comfortable

- Vespa SXL 125 has such poor qualityTalking about my Vespa SXL 125, I have driven it for only 2200 kms. I can't believe that the parts of this scooter are of such poor quality. I honestly recommend not to buy this scooter because of its poor parts and poor service center. No mechanic on the street will be able to fix it. Only the company showrooms have spare parts and they don't have ready stock.Read More3 1

- Good for short journeys and daily useMy favoritism is for the Vespa SXL 125. My parents had given the scooter to me. Both reasonably priced and stylishly designed. The 125cc engine of the scooter provides a reasonable 45 km/l fuel economy. The design is really eye-catching; it blends the classic Vespa brand appeal with a contemporary look. The seat moves easily and is really comfy. The 7.4 litre petrol tank is suitable for city travel. Both short journeys and daily use are well suited for this scooter. It gives a nice ride and is dependable. I always have trust in this model since of its solid performance and beautiful look.Read More1
