Yamaha recently launched the 2023 Fazer FZ-15 in Brazil and here's how different it is from the version sold in India

Yamaha recently launched the 2023 iteration of the Fazer FZ-15 in Brazil. This bike is very similar to the FZ-FI sold in India, but it gets premium tyres, a few mechanical changes, a new headlight setup and more. Here’re all the differences between the models sold here and in Brazil:

A quick glance at the 2023 FZ-15 will reveal the new projector headlamp, which brings it visually in-line with the FZ-25’s design. This is particularly different from its Indian counterpart, which has a vertically stacked twin chamber conventional LED headlight.

The Brazilian bike also sports a redesigned front visor, which is edgier as compared to the India spec bike. However, the muscular tank and other design elements remain the same between both bikes.

In the engine department, the 2023 Fazer FZ-15 features a flex-fuel 149cc mill that makes 12.2PS in petrol mode and 12.4PS in ethanol mode, while torque is 12.7Nm in both modes. The FZ-FI on the other hand also gets a 149cc engine, but this produces 12.4PS and 13.3Nm without the provision of running on ethanol.

The instrument cluster on the Brazil-spec bike is the same negative LCD unit as the Indian model. However, the tell-tale lights on both models are placed differently.

The biggest differentiating aspect between the bikes is that the Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres are now standard on the Fazer FZ-15, while the FZ-FI sports MRF Nylogrip Zappers. However, both bikes roll on 17-inch wheels with a 100-section rubber up front and 140-section at the back.

The underpinnings on both bikes are the same in the form of a telescopic fork and monoshock. Braking duties are shared by a 282mm front disc and 220mm rear disc, with the safety net of single-channel ABS. Both bikes weigh 135kg.

All said and done, there is a difference in the dimensions of the bike too. The Brazil-spec bike is 10mm longer, while offering 5mm better ground clearance. However, its fuel tank capacity is 1.1-litre less than the Indian model.

The Fazer FZ-15 is available in three colours: Racing Blue, Midnight Black and Magma Red. We expect these updates to feature in the next iteration of the FZ-FI to be launched in India next year. However, it might miss out on the Pirelli tyres. While the Brazil-spec bike costs 16,990 Brazilian Real (around Rs. 2.68 lakh), the current India-spec model retails at Rs 1,13,700 (ex-showroom Delhi).
