The Vietnamese brand could enter the two-wheeler segment with this electric scooter

    VinFast Viper

    Quick Highlights:

    • VinFast has patented a new electric scooter design in India

    • It could be the next-generation Viper

    • It might use a 3kw hub motor with maximum range of 145km

VinFast has filed a patent design in India for the Viper electric scooter.

    What Does The Patent Reveal?

The scooter in the patent carries VinFast branding on the front apron. However, it looks slightly different from the scooter that’s sold in Vietnam. It gets a redesigned front with new headlight clusters and DRLs. The side panels on the front panel are sharper, making the scooter look sporty. Even the side panels under the seat are much sharper than the existing scooter. The same theme can be seen on the tail as well.

The e-scooter has a telescopic fork and dual shocks. The international-spec Viper currently has a 1.5kWh battery powering the 3kW motor. This gives it a claimed range of 82km. Another additional, swappable battery can be added to the scooter, increasing the range to 145km.

It gets a TFT display paired with connectivity features. Additionally, it gets remote lock and unlock with keyless ignition. The scooter gets practical features such as a 780mm seat height, which must be accessible for most of the riders. However, it only gets 10-litre storage space – because of the swappable battery.

    BikeDekho Says

At the moment VinFast has only patented its electric scooter – usually done to protect the company's intellectual property rights. The expected launch lineup may include VinFast's Evo, Feliz and Viper and some other India-specific models. The Viper is priced from VND 39,900,000 (approximately Rs 1.43 lakh).

However, VinFast might localise the scooter for India, and could price it competitively. It will rival the likes of TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and Ather Rizta. That said, no word on when it will be launched in India.
