Benelli’s retro motorcycle could be priced at Rs 1.8 lakh

[UPDATE : Benelli Imperiale 400 has been launched in India, head here for pricing and other details]

  • The Imperiale 400 is powered by a 373.5cc single-cylinder motor.
  • Benelli could offer leather panniers as an optional extra.
  • It will rival the Classic 350 range.

Benelli has shared a teaser image of its upcoming bike on its social media channels. Just like it did before the launch of the Leoncino, the teaser image doesn’t reveal much except the date when the bike is going to launch: 25th October. However, we expect it to be the much-awaited Imperiale 400, which has been spotted on Indian roads before as well.

Being positioned as a classic-looking motorcycle, the upcoming Imperiale 400 gets a round headlamp, a twin-pod analogue instrument cluster with a digital inset, split seats and chrome fenders. The Italian bike maker is also expected to offer leather panniers as an option, which further accentuates the bike’s retro design language.

Powering the Imperiale 400 is a 373.5cc single-cylinder motor which makes 21PS of power at 5500rpm and 29Nm of torque at 3500rpm. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed gearbox. The Imperiale 400 sits on a steel double-cradle frame and tips the scale at 200kg. It comes equipped with a 41mm telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a 300mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS offered as an extra safety net. Now, we have done a detailed story on the Imperiale 400 and what it has to offer, which you can read here

There’s no word on the price yet but we expect the Imperiale 400 to be sold at Rs 2 lakh to Rs 2.3 lakh (ex-showroom). In terms of rivals, it goes up against the Royal Enfield Classic 350.
