Here how you can buy TVS’ answer to the Bajaj Chetak

TVS has launched iQube Electric to compete against other premium electric scooters like the Ather 450 and Bajaj Chetak. Here’s what you need to know if you plan to buy the iQube.

Price:

The iQube Electric scooter qualifies for FAME II benefits. After applying FAME discounts, the electric scooter costs Rs 1.15 lakh in Bangalore. This price includes the cost of the scooter, charging cable, charging adapter and a lifetime subscription to SmartXonnect basic features. However, as part of its introductory pricing, TVS is offering a free home charging unit and installation as well as 1-year subscription to SmartXonnect Advanced features that include navigation, geo-fencing alerts and charging locations displayed on the screen.

Where can you buy one?

The scooter is only available in Bengaluru for now. It can be purchased at any of the three TVS dealerships listed below:

Trijal TVS,

94/4, Iblur Village, Marathahalli,

Bengaluru, Karnataka 560037

Surya Pratap TVS,

Thambu Chetty Palya Krishnarajapura, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560049

Bengaluru TVS,

No 199/108/, Harlaur main road, Opp Narayana Olympiad school, Haralur Bengaluru, Karnataka 560102

The TVS iQube can also be booked online via the TVS website. Customers can also track their orders online. The scooters can not be brought outright and need to be pre-booked since TVS only has a limited number of scooters available currently.

EMI options?

The iQube will be available on EMI through TVS Finance. TVS is working on the EMI plans and we will update this report as we get more information.

What about service?

The first scheduled service for the iQube is at 6 months or 4,000km (whichever comes earliest). Thereafter, the second service will be at 12 months and 8,000km. After that, the service intervals are at 12 months or after every 4,000km.

Other than battery maintenance, the consumables covered under servicing include front fork oil seal, front brake pad, rear brake liner, disc brake hoses and top up of lubricants and fluids such as brake fluid and front fork oil. TVS also offers roadside assistance for the iQube.

What about battery life?

TVS claims the iQube’s battery has a life of 5 lakh kilometres. If you cover 25km a day, that turns out to a period of 5 years.
