TVS Apache RTR 160 2V: Old vs New Differences Explained
The bike has now become safer than ever with the addition of a crucial feature!

The 2025 TVS Apache RTR 160 2V was recently launched in India, at Rs 1,34,320 (ex-showroom). The bike has now received two major changes with the 2025 update. It now complies with OBD-2B emission norms, and also comes with dual-channel ABS. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the changes:
OBD-2B Compliance
To comply with the latest emission norms, TVS has made the Apache RTR 160 2V OBD-2B compliant. This means that the bike now comes with better on-board diagnostic sensors which measure emissions in real-time and alerts the rider in case of any inconsistencies. If you’re curious to know more about OBD-2B norms, check this out.

Dual-Channel ABS
Another major addition with this update is the dual-channel ABS system. Earlier the TVS Apache RTR 160 2V used to get single-channel ABS. This works only on the front wheel. However, with most choosing to use the rear brake more than the front, the chances of the rear brake locking up under hard braking is quite high, and the loss of control at the rear can lead to accidents. The addition of dual-channel ABS, helps prevent this by preventing the rear from locking up during emergency braking situations, thus improving safety overall.

Recently, the government had announced its plans on making ABS mandatory on all bikes and scooters. Here is our opinion on how this could impact rider safety overall.
What Remains Unchanged?
The TVS Apache RTR 160 2V is still powered by the same 159.7cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 16.04PS at 8,750rpm and 13.85Nm at 7,000rpm. The bike is built on a dual-cradle frame and is suspended on a telescopic fork and a twin gas-charged shock-absorber setup. The bike rolls on 17-inch tyres at both ends, with a 270mm front and a 200mm rear petal disc braking setup.

Features wise, the bike gets an LCD console, with smartphone connectivity via TVS SmartXonnect (exclusive only to the Disc BT, Racing Edition and Dual-channel ABS variants). The bike also features 3 riding modes across all variants: Rain, Road and Sport which modulate the power output and level of ABS intervention.

TVS Apache RTR 160 User Reviews
- A Durable Bike with Excellent Ride QualityI chose this bike because I love riding the Apache. I haven't found the same level of comfort in any other bike in this segment and the riding posture is also very comfortable and perfectly balanced and relaxed on every ride. The ride quality of Apache RTR 160 has been very good so far. For long routes, city ride the most important things are comfort and riding posture, and that's what really makes this bike's ride quality better. Everyone has their own choice, but I would definitely choose this bike in this segment. As per current regulations, bikes are subject to scrapper after 15 years, and if this bike is properly maintained, it still run like day one even after 15 years. It's a very durable machine.Read More3 1

- Best bike for daily city rides.I chose the Apache RTR 160 because it has a sporty design good mileage and strong pickup which is perfect for daily city use. It feels stable at high speed and the exhaust note is enjoyable. The only downside is its slightly stiff suspension on bad roads and the seat could be softer for long rides. The ride quality has been smooth and the engine responds quickly which makes traffic rides comfortable. Handling is sharp and I feel confident while turning. On long rides I feel a little vibration and the riding position can cause mild back pain. Still it is enjoyable for both short and medium rides. Yes I would recommend the Apache RTR 160 to riders who want a stylish bike with good performance for daily use. It has reliable mileage and great road presence but those who want soft suspension or long touring comfort should take a proper test ride before deciding.Read More20 8
