Both the faired and naked versions of the India bound 250cc Triumph motorcycles have been spied during test runs again. The faired version of the bike has been already announced by the company and it unveiled its sketch at the 2013 EICMA. As the bike is based on its elder sibling Daytona 675, it has been christened as Daytona 250. The naked version has not been announced by the company, however various spy pictures of the bike are coming out. The bike looks based on the Street Triple, so the company might name the bike Street 250. The bikes were sans camouflaged and looking like the final production models.
The bikes will be introduced in the quite popular entry-level performance bike segment to target the young riders, which are looking for a performance bike to start with. The bikes will sport a 250cc, 4-stroke, liquid cooled, single cylinder engine with 4-valves, which is expected to deliver around 26bhp of maximum power.
Triumph's 250cc bikes will be manufactured at the company's Narsapura facility, near Bangalore, which is under development currently. The company will produce these bikes in India for domestic as well as for the export sales. Localised production will help the company to launch these bikes at a very affordable price in India. We are expecting a sub 2 lakh rupees price, therefore these bikes will compete with Honda CBR250, KTM Duke 200 and 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Hyosung GT250 R. However, pricing will the major fact to decide the future of these entry level Triumph bikes in India.
