Suzuki’s First Electric Two-wheeler To Be Launched In 2024
It is most likely to be the Burgman Electric scooter
Suzuki has announced its growth strategy with respect to electric two-wheeler offerings for the global market. The Japanese marque intends on launching electric eight models by 2030, which will account for 25 per cent of its two-wheeler lineup.
While details of these models were not revealed by the company, it is said the marque’s first electric two-wheeler will be launched in 2024, which is most likely to be the Suzuki Burgman Electric. This electric version of the Burgman Street has already been spied on Indian roads from 2020, and we have also seen its details leak through patent drawings.
Suzuki has also mentioned that all of its upcoming eight electric two-wheelers will be more inclined to be city-slickers, rather than being performance-oriented models. That said, we would expect them to be having similar specs to that of the Bajaj Chetak.
These eight electric two-wheelers will be a combination of e-motorcycles and e-scooters, and while we have a fair idea of the first e-scoot, we expect the first electric motorcycle to be based on the Suzuki Gixxer. The Japanese bike maker has also mentioned that for its bigger bikes, it is considering the adoption of carbon neutral fuels, rather than working on electric replacements.

By the time Suzuki launches its first electric scooter, Honda would’ve launched the Activa electric scooter in early 2024. Apart from Honda's electric scooter, and the Bajaj Chetak, it will also face competition from the Hero Vida V1, Ola S1 and Ather 450X.
