Simple Energy is taking the Make-In-India initiative very seriously indeed, as even the battery cells for its upcoming EV, the One, will most likely be made in India. The EV startup has joined hands with New York’s C4V battery technology company to set up a cell manufacturing facility. This speaks volumes for the Indian electrification movement as it should reduce dependency for battery cell imports.
C4V’s battery technology has proven to be safer than the usual LFP battery cells. They carry higher energy density, which means more charge, and also longer life cycles. Plus, the charging times are going to be far lower. Also, with C4V working on solid state batteries, it could prove to be quite a monumental move for Simple.

Upcoming Scooters in India
When launched, the Simple One’s claims of 300km will be put to the test. On paper, it certainly is the scooter with the highest range, and even though it is the IDC figure, real-world range should be around 200-240km. Simple has also boosted the performance of the One, with the 8.5kW motor pushing out 72Nm, helping the scooter clock a claimed 0-40kmph time of just 2.85 seconds.

Deliveries of the Simple One will start from June 2022. We should be riding the final version of the e-scooter pretty soon. So, stay tuned to BikeDekho for more updates.

- Range IssueIt’s been 3 weeks I bought Simple One in Bangalore Marathahalli Showroom. While buying g this I had enquired Ather, Ola as well. Ather was fantastic but didn’t go for it because of its low range. OLA didn’t like riding comfort and also due the on going service issues didn’t preferred. Finally I choose Simple one over Ather because of only one reason ‘190’ km range what they claimed. But it it really failed and didn’t meet the said range, so far I had driven 210km mostly in Eco mode only (max 20km would have driven in ride mode which is is just above the Eco mode) and charged 3 times. When I raise this issue to service centre they have updated software and assured the problem should be solved. Surprisingly the issue still exist and it gave me only ~60km in a full charge, when I raise this issue to service centre (Mahadevapura, Blr) they said scooter has to ride at least 500km then things will fall in place. If that’s the case don’t know why they didn’t told me when I raised initiallyRead More2
