It’s a well-known fact that the after-sales service department brings in the most amount of moolah for two-wheeler manufacturers and dealerships. That said, the COVID-19 lockdown that extended for over three months hasn’t been kind on anyone including manufacturers or the service department. The only way to come around this is to think out of the box. In order words, bring services to the customer’s doorstep. That’s exactly what Royal Enfield has done with the introduction of ‘Service On Wheels’, a safe, seamless and hassle-free motorcycle service experience.
Royal Enfield has customised a fleet of Bullet Trials 350’s into mobile service-ready motorcycles. This includes scheduled maintenance service, minor repairs, critical component testing, parts replacement, and electrical diagnosis performed by trained and authorised service technicians. With all the necessary safety precautions of course. Oh, these parts and consumables have a 12-month warranty too. Interested customers can book 'Service on Wheels' by contacting their nearest RE dealership.
Royal Enfield launched the Bullet Trials 350 and 500 in March last year in a bid to offer enthusiasts a taste of adventure on a budget. However, the concept wasn’t well-received since Royal Enfield aficionados expected a lot more from the brand, especially after the launch of the potent 650cc twins. Lacklustre sales led to its culling exactly a year later in March 2020. The brand seems to be salvaging the remaining Bullet Trials by turning them into service bikes.
And while that’s a promising approach, we think the Himalayan would have been a better bike for the job. It can trek through most terrains with its off-road setup and torquey engine, has plenty of storage options, and is overall a brilliant machine. It also looks a lot cooler!
Nonetheless, Royal Enfield has been learning from its mistakes and has a slew of bikes lined up for the forthcoming future. The first bike from this new lineup will be the Meteor 350 based on the brand’s newJ platform. It’s expected to launch soon and has a lot going for it. It gets a brand new engine, subtle design tweaks, revised ergonomics and a range of accessories. More details here.

I've always wanted to purchase a Royal Enfield, and the Classic 350 was my first pick. For Indian riders in particular, it's more than simply a bike; it's a feeling. I also gave the Jawa and Honda CB350 some thought, but nothing compares to the Classic's legacy and appeal. Long YouTube reviews, forum conversations, and advice from friends abound throughout my research quest. I finally knew this was the bike after a test ride. It felt like mine right away—the comfort, the road presence, the thump. The thump of the engine and the riding posture makes it feel special every time. On highways, it cruises beautifully at 80–90 kmph, and in city, it feels stable though heavy in traffic. Mileage is around 34–36 kmpl. Negatives are the slightly heavy weight and higher maintenance compared to normal bikes, but for the experience it gives, I don’t mind. Yes, for anyone who wants to feel a strong connection with their bike and enjoys relaxed, powerful riding. It is not for people who want lightweight, high-mileage bikes. But for enthusiasts and travel lovers, it is the perfect choice.Read More
