Now Eicher Motors, announced its two-wheeler division, Royal Enfield, will set up a new manufacturing facility at Oragadam, near Chennai, much to the cheers of Royal Enfield fans. Initially, the plant will have 1.5 lakh units per annum capacity by March, 2013. Over the next five years, the proposed 50-acre facility is likely to see a total investment of up to Rs 350 crore.
Eicher Motors Managing Director and CEO Siddhartha Lal said "We received the due letter for land from the Tamil Nadu government and will start construction immediately after getting land possession. The plant will be ready by the first quarter of 2013.” Once operational, all the vehicle production will be completely shift from the present facilities to the new facilities. The current facility in the state has a production capacity of 70,000 units and this will be to 1.5 lakh annually, as quoted by Lal. The state has been a very conducive environments and facilities meant for industrial developments. And this has brought Eicher Motors to come up with the new facilities. It is said by official statement from the Tamil Nadu government that the company had also seek to further expand its operations with a budget of Rs. 350 crore.
With the first launching of Royal Enfield Bullet Classic 350 and Royal Enfield Bullet Classic 500 years ago in Delhi, the new facilities will surely help the bike lovers to get it quickly. The current waiting period is 6-8 months currently. Now with all these good news of Royal Enfield fans and its business, in addition there will be much better news for the unemployment youths of India. It is said that the new proposal will ensure to give 900 direct and indirect employment opportunities. So all the well wishes for the Royal Enfield fans and job seekers.

Easily overtakes other vehicles at 80kmph also. Is stable on highways. Adding a backrest could help pillion rider in long rides. I usually drove without pillion for long rides.
