  1. The electric cafe racer concept was teased at the launch of the RV400 and RV300.
  2. Upcoming electric cafe racer could be based on the RV400.
  3. It’s likely to be launched in India by late 2019.

The launch event of the Revolt RV400 and RV300 was full of surprises. The RV400 and RV300 caught our attention with features we’ve never seen before on an Indian motorcycle. Meanwhile, the company unveiled its ‘Revolt My Plan’ subscription schemes that aims to revolutionise the way motorcycles are bought in the country. But the biggest surprise was reserved until the end of the press conference wherein the manufacturer unveiled a teaser image of a retro bike with ‘to be continued’ written across it. This suggests that the next motorcycle from Revolt could be an electric cafe racer!

Interestingly, Revolt’s platform partner Super Soco has a retro bike called the Super Soco TC on which the Revolt RV400 is based. Revolt has been testing this retro variant in India and the bike could also form the basis for the next electric cafe racer.

That said, the concept has a different body style than the retro bike sold abroad. A look at the image reveals clip-on handlebars and a single-seater layout with a cowl in place of the rear seat. The tank extensions too are different from the RV400 or Super Soco TC.  The bike gets a number plate holder mounted on the rear swingarm that gives the tail section a cleaner look.

While the bottom portion of the teaser image has been blurred, it seems to get a powertrain and underpinnings similar to the RV400 or RV300. We would put our money on the former as the retro bike could be a niche product.

Given that Revolt already has the platform in place, the bike could launch by late 2019 and might carry a price of around Rs 4000 or Rs 5,000 per month. It could come with the same pricing structure as the RV400 and RV300. Know more about Revolt’s new and revolutionary purchase plan called the ‘My Revolt Plan’ here.
