Modified Yamaha Aerox 155: The Most Insane Build So Far!

The modifications have taken inspiration from the Yamaha R1

We recently came across a modified Yamaha Aerox 155, taking inspiration from the Yamaha R1, called the ‘Yamaha Aerox Alpha Nakano’. The scooter has undergone a lot of changes both to its design and mechanicals, but what really makes it stand out is the absolutely stunning colour scheme. Here’s a detailed breakdown of what has been changed:

The new colour scheme features a flame livery, with white, blue and red colour combo. It is actually inspired by the helmet graphics featured on legendary Japanese Yamaha racer (and multiple Superbike World Championship winner) Noriyuki Haga’s helmet. 

Along with this, the Yamaha Aerox 155 has also seen addition of carbon fibre-themed parts on the headlight cowl, fender and side panels., making it feel like a race-spec scooter ready to hit the track. Even smaller bits like the brake levers have been replaced by more light weight aftermarket ones. 

Moving on to the rear, the scooter has also seen the addition of a custom thicker looking seat. It comes with a checkered design, similar to what is there on the carbon fibre-themed parts. Judging by the looks, the seat could be a lot more comfortable than the stock seat.

Coming to the performance, the scooter is likely powered by the same 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine as the stock Aerox. But on this build, the scooter features a custom exhaust system, which likely improves the scooter’s performance overall. For perspective, on the stock scooter, the engine outputs 15PS and 13.9Nm. 

The scooter has also undergone major changes in the underpinnings department. For starters, the scooter now gets a custom aluminium swingarm (possibly lighter) with a Yamaha logo for extra attention-to-detail. It is suspended on an adjustable gas-charged inverted fork setup and a twin gas-charged shock absorber setup at the rear.

It also now rolls on gold-finished 14-inch alloy wheels at both ends, wrapped in Pierelli Diablo Rosso Scooter tyres. The new tyres should offer a lot more grip compared to the stock ones. Additionally, the scooter’s brake callipers have been replaced with custom ones, with a radial front calliper for better braking performance. 

Overall, the modifications have really transformed the Aerox 155 into a mean looking machine that is ready to hit the track. The unique colour scheme which pays homage to a legendary Japanese racer is a really nice touch. Some might say it looks overdone or the underpinnings are a bit of an overkill for a small-capacity scooter. However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, isn’t it?
