  • KTM has confirmed that it will get the 790 Adventure to India.
  • This hardcore ADV will most likely come via the CKD route.
  • Will be priced at a premium over the 790 Duke.

At the launch of the new 790 Duke, KTM announced that it will also be bringing their mid-capacity 790 Adventure ADV to India. While no official timeline has been revealed, we expect it to come to India within the next 9-12 months. The upcoming motorcycle is expected to be priced in the region of Rs 11.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Along with the 790 Adventure, KTM might also launch the more off-road-focused 790 Adventure R variant that comes with more premium suspension components.

KTM is known for their off-road bikes and all that expertise has trickled down to the 790 Adventure. Compared to other ADV’s it weighs just 189kg. Seat height is 850mm while fuel tank capacity is 20 litres. It gets features like an adjustable windscreen, all-LED lighting and a colour TFT instrument console with an inbuilt GPS mount above it.

The 790 Adventure shares its powertrain with the 790 Duke. However, its 799cc parallel-twin motor has been tuned for better low-end grunt and makes 95PS and 88Nm. That's 10PS less and 1Nm more than the Duke. However, peak torque is available at just 6,600rpm compared to the Duke’s 8000rpm. This means the ADV should pack in enough grunt to get out of sticky situations.

The motorcycle gets 43mm open cartridge WP fork up front and preload-adjustable WP monoshock at the rear with 200mm of suspension travel at both ends. It also gets 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels. Braking is via dual 320mm discs and a 260mm rear disc. Electronics include four rider modes: Street, Off-road, Rain and an optional Rally mode; lean-sensitive traction control and cornering ABS. The ABS also gets an off-road mode and can be switched off completely.
