KTM’s mad streetfighter is finally here! And it’s time to take a closer look at it

The KTM 790 Duke is finally here! The streetfighter from Austria is priced at Rs 8.64 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in nine cities as of now. But KTM is planning to sell the 790 Duke in more than 30 cities by April 2020. So, before you make any decision, here’s a detailed image gallery of the Scalpel in all its glory.

The 790 Duke shares the same design philosophy as its bigger cousin, the 1290 Duke, and KTM has trickled this design down to the 390 Duke as well. The aggressive and angular look coupled with a bright paint scheme will surely help it stand out from its competitors.

Internationally, KTM offers an all-black variant. But do you want to buy a KTM and make it stealthy? No, right? And we know how popular the orange/black paint is in India and for that matter, the company has brought just this one colour. Yay!

It gets features such as a full-LED headlamp and full-colour TFT instrument console.

Power comes from a 799cc parallel-twin unit that belts out 105PS of power at 9500rpm and 86Nm of torque at 8000rpm.

Suspension duties are taken care of by 43mm open cartridge WP front fork and a 12-stage preload-adjustable WP rear monoshock.

Braking hardware consists of twin 300mm front discs with radially-mounted J Juan calipers and a 240mm rear disc.

In terms of electronic aids, it gets four rider modes (Sport, Street, Rain, Track), traction control, launch control, wheelie control and cornering ABS with Supermoto mode.

KTM has announced that it will bring the BS6-compliant model next year, which could command a premium of around Rs 50,000 over the current model.
