KTM 790 Duke Launched In India At Rs 8.64 lakh

The 790 Duke is KTM’s most powerful motorcycle sold officially in India!

  • The 790 Duke is brought to our shores via the CKD route.
  • KTM dealerships have already started accepting bookings for the 790 Duke.
  • It gets four ride modes, an IMU-based 9-level traction control system, and more.

The much-awaited KTM 790 Duke has finally been launched in India. Brought to our shores via the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route, KTM's 'Scalpel' is priced at Rs 8,63,945 lakh (introductory ex-showroom) and is available in nine cities only: Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Kolkata, Surat, Guwahati, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai. At this price, the 790 Duke goes up against the Suzuki GSX-S750 and the Kawasaki Z900, which are priced at Rs 7.52 lakh and Rs 7.69 lakh respectively, ex-showroom India. KTM dealerships in India have already started accepting bookings for a token amount ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000 depending on the dealership.

The Scalpel is powered by 799cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin motor that produces 104.6PS at 9000rpm and 87Nm at 8000rpm. It comes paired to a 6-speed transmission with a bi-directional quickshifter offered as a standard fitment. But does the 790 Duke pack enough punch to scare off its rivals? Head here to find out.

The 790 Duke gets all the electronic nannies that you could have wished for to keep you safe and sound. It gets four rider modes (Sport, Street, Rain, Track), engine brake control, adjustable wheelie control, an IMU-based 9-level traction control system and cornering ABS with Supermoto mode! Here’s a detailed report where we answer all your queries regarding the 790 Duke.

If you are planning to add the Scalpel to your wishlist, then you need to act fast as only a limited number of bikes are allotted for India. One of the reasons why KTM is bringing limited units is because the 790 Duke is not BS6-ready yet and the Austrian manufacturer is currently working on a larger 890cc motor that could comply with the upcoming emission norms.
