Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Svartpilen 401 India Launch Timeline Confirmed

They are likely to be launched alongside the KTM Adventure siblings at IBW 2019

We’ve finally got a date! KTM, which will be showcasing its baby Adventure siblings at the India Bike Week (IBW), may set the stage for a pair of new bikes from its sister brand Husqvarna. The Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 are set to hit Indian shores in all its glory on December 6 in Goa. The duo will be sold via KTM dealerships across India. Expect the bikes to be priced between Rs 2.8 lakh and Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom).

In an interview, Rakesh Sharma, the Executive Director of Bajaj Auto, said, "A series of new product launches will be seen as soon as the transition period from BS4 to BS6 comes to an end.” "Husqvarna’s bikes will be launched in the first week of December and it will be available for retail sales from January or February," he added.

We are likely to get the 2020 versions of both models that feature a couple of cosmetic enhancements and small yet functional updates. The Vitpilen and Svartpilen 401 share the same 373cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine seen on the KTM 390 Duke and RC 390. It puts out 43.5PS of power and 37Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed transmission. These bikes are likely to comply with Euro 5/BS6-emission norms. 

Much like KTM, Husqvarna intends to capture a portion of the entry-level performance segment with smaller 125cc and 250cc motorcycles. So expect to see smaller BS6 compliant versions of the Vitpilen and Svartpilen in India pretty soon. All four platforms are likely to be manufactured at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan plant. And much like its KTM counterparts, the Huskies will be positioned as premium offerings. The introduction of Husqvarna will open up a new range of motorcycles for Indian enthusiasts and further aid the growth of the premium motorcycling segment.
