The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250’S run as the entry-level offering from the Swedish brand was rather shortlived as the new Husqvarna Svartpilen 200 has been unveiled. The Swedish brand surprised everyone by unveiling the Svartpilen 250 along with the Vitpilen 250 at the 2019 IBW in Goa, Both the 250cc motorcycles are India-specific models, while the Svartpilen 200 is likely to head to Europe before its made available in India.
The new Husqvarna 200cc motorcycle is based on the KTM 200 Duke. Both the bikes share the same frame, suspension hardware, and brakes. Even the motor is the same 200cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor rated at 26PS and 19.2Nm. Styling of the Husky 200 is inspired by the Svartpilen 250 and it also features the same alloy wheels wrapped with mild off-road-spec tyres.
Since the Husqvarna Svartpilen 200 will be manufactured in India, it will definitely be launched in our market. At the unveil, Husqvarna India officials did confirm that they have plans to expand the Husqvarna range in India, and we feel that the Husqvarna Svartpilen 200 will be launched by early 2021 as the brand will now focus on the Husky 250 duo. As for pricing, the Swedish brand will carry a premium over the KTMs in India, since the current 200 Duke retails for Rs 1.62 lakh (ex-showroom), expect the Husqvarna Svartpilen 200 to retail for around Rs 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom).
