Honda Shine 125: Features Explained

Honda Shine 125 is designed for daily commuters and families so the feature list comes with just the right things needed

The Honda Shine 125 is the most popular option for those looking for a fuss-free 125cc bike. With the Drum variant starting at ex-showroom Delhi price of Rs 82,722, and Disc at Rs 87,081. It’s not really a feature-packed bike, but ticks the essentials. Here are the details

Convenience Features

The Shine 125 comes with a full-LCD instrument console. This shows live mileage indicator, an average mileage readout, and a distance-to-empty range. It also includes a gear-position indicator, a service reminder, and a digital clock. That said, there’s no Bluetooth connectivity, so no navigation either.

It also gets an Idling Stop System that automatically switches the engine off during brief stops in traffic and restarts it instantly with a twist of the throttle (when you’re in neutral), helping save fuel on city commutes. You also get a 15W USB-C port, but this is standard only on the Disc variant and comes as an additional accessory on the Drum version for Rs 886. We’d have liked a higher wattage, for faster charging, though. Also, you’ll have to spend a bit more on a third-party mobile phone holder if you were to charge your phone.

Also, the Shine 125 comes with a standard 3-year/42,000km warranty, which can be extended for an additional 7 years. This ensures total peace of mind for a decade, which is a good investment in our opinion.

Safety And Chassis Upgrades

On the safety front, the Honda Shine 125 is equipped with a Combi-Brake System (CBS) on both variants. This system links the front and rear brakes to provide balanced braking force to the front when the rear brake is applied, which is especially useful for newer riders who tend to prioritise the rear. However, it’s crucial to understand that this is not ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), and there is no single-channel ABS option available, even on the top variant.

The primary difference between the two variants is the front brake: the base model uses a 130mm drum, while the higher-spec model gets a 240mm disc for improved stopping power. Other safety essentials include a side stand indicator with an engine cut-off function.

BikeDekho Says

The Honda Shine 125 excels at the aspects it’s designed for - point A to point B commutes with ease. We’d definitely recommend the disc variant as the extra stopping power will be extremely useful in our unpredictable roads. The extra warranty coverage also makes long-term ownership easy.
