The quirky Honda Navi seems to have clicked among the consumers as Honda has doubled its production given the rising demand

Honda took a big gamble with the Navi mini-bike that was launched at the 2016 Auto Expo. The concept of a mini bike was alien to the Indian market and Honda which has been conservative in its approach in the Indian market brought a product that was totally out of the box and quirky caught many by surprise. But the gamble seems to have worked for the Japanese two-wheeler giant as it has sold more than 10,000 units within just months of it being launched. Owing to this positive response Honda has decided to double its production for the Navi. The mini bike is currently sold in just 10 cities in India which is expected to rise by the end of 2016 and given the demand for the Navi an increase in production was inevitable.

The Navi is the first Honda offering to be designed and developed from the ground up at its R&D facility in India. The Honda Navi is a unique amalgamation of a scooter and motorcycle. It looks like a mini motorcycle but has a heart of a scooter which makes it more versatile. The Honda Navi has been positioned as a runabout two-wheeler for college students and it seems to have caught the fancy of the youngsters.

The Honda Navi is powered by the popular 110cc, air-cooled motor as seen on the Activa generating 8PS and 9Nm of torque. Since the body panels are fibre, the Navi tips the scale at just 101kg making it among the lightest two-wheelers on sale in India. Fuel efficiency figure claimed by Honda is in excess of 60kmpl while it gets an external fuel tank unlike the under seat unit as seen on its scooter sibling. The Honda Navi has been priced at Rs 39,500 ex-showroom Delhi with a whole range of accessories which will be made available soon.
