That’s a premium of a little over 30,000 when compared to the CBR650F

  • The Honda CBR650 is available in two colours - red and black.
  • It’s available across all 22 WingWorld dealerships in the country and the sole Honda BigWing dealership in Gurugram.
  • Customers can book the bike for a token amount of Rs 15,000.
  • The India-spec model has been slightly detuned to keep in line with noise-emission laws in the country.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has launched its mid-displacement sports bike - the CBR650R - in India. The bike was first showcased at EICMA 2018 and designed to be a step up from the CBR650F. Priced at Rs 7.70 lakh (ex-showroom India), the bike makes its way to India via the CKD route and commands a premium of around Rs 32,000 over the CBR650F. It’s offered in two colour options - red and black. Interested customers can book the bike via any 22 WingWorld dealerships across India or visit the sole Honda BigWing dealership in Gurugram, Delhi. Official booking for the bike has commenced for a token amount of Rs 15,000.

That said, while both the India and international-spec model use the same 649cc, liquid-cooled, inline-four, the one we get is slightly detuned. It produces 88PS of power at 11,500rpm and a peak torque of 60.1Nm at 8000rpm. In comparison, the bike available overseas dishes out 95PS at 12,000rpm while producing 3.9Nm (64Nm) more torque at 8500rpm. The move is most likely to keep the bike in line with noise emission laws in India and the low quality of fuel here. Apart from the power deficit in the India-spec model, the bike remains identical to the international model.

In terms of displacement, the Honda CBR650R goes up against the Kawasaki Ninja 650 priced at Rs 5.89 lakh (ex-showroom, India). However, in terms of price, the bike competes against the Suzuki GSX-S750 (7.46 lakh) and Kawasaki Z900, which is priced at 7.69 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom India)

Refer to the press release below for more information about the bike.
