BMW recently launched its most awaited motorcycle, the F 450 GS. The bike draws inspiration from its eldest sibling, the R 1300 GS, and even after being the smallest GS, it doesn't lag behind in proving the ‘BMW feel’. Let's get to know more about it through detailed real-life images:

Looks

The BMW F 450 GS is a sharp-looking ADV carries the brand’s design language quite well though its X-shaped headlight, similar-design beak, and tank extensions. The design is further elevated thanks to the golden-coloured inverted fork and handlebar.

Colours

The BMW F 450 GS is offered in two colour options: Cosmic Black and Racing Blue Metallic. The cosmic black colour is shared by the base and Exclusive variant, while the Racing Blue Metallic colour is exclusive to the top-end GS Trophy variant. The bike looks stealthy and understated in an all-black colour scheme, while the GS Trophy variant looks vivid and fun.

Engine And Performance

The F 450 GS is a 420cc parallel twin, liquid-cooled engine producing 47.5PS at 8750rpm, and 43Nm at 6,750rpm. While the base and Exclusive variants get a slip-and-assist clutch and bi-directional quickshifter, the top variant gets an Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) system. It is basically an automatic clutch which engages after 2,700rpm and negates the need for the rider to use the clutch.

Features

The bike comes loaded with features like a 6.5-inch TFT console, smartphone connectivity, heated grips, bidirectional quickshifter (in Exclusive and GS Trophy variants) and ERC (in GS Trophy variant)

Rider aids include dual-channel ABS, cornering traction control, Engine Brake Control (stops the rear wheel from locking up during hard downshift) and Dynamic Brake Control (prevents accidental throttle input while braking) as standard.

Underpinnings

The BMW F 450 GS gets a 43mm inverted telescopic fork and a monoshock with preload and rebound adjustability, both with 180mm of wheel travel. Only the GS Trophy variant gets compression and rebound-adjustable front suspension. 

It rides on a 19/17-inch front and rear wheel setup and gets a 100-section tyre at the front and a 130-secion tyre at the rear. Braking is handled by a 310mm disk upfront and a 240mm rear brake disk setup.
