The variant has been recently approved by the transport department

The Yamaha MT-15 is all set to soon get a variant with dual-channel ABS. The model has recently been approved by the NCR (National Capital Region) transport department, and is likely to be launched in the coming weeks. Expect a premium of around Rs 4,000 over the standard version, which starts at Rs 1,40,900 (ex-showroom Delhi) after the recent price hike

The dual-channel ABS should’ve been included when the bike was updated to comply with BS6 norms in February 2020. Instead, Yamaha opted to offer a standard rear radial tyre, a side stand indicator with engine kill function, and new colour options. But better late than never.

With the dual-channel ABS, the bike should be a lot safer than before. In terms of features, it will become a more well-rounded offering and could be the ideal alternative for those who want the performance and safety levels of a Yamaha R15 V3 with comfortable ergonomics. Apart from the different design, ergos, and revised gearing, the only other aspect different from the R15 is the box-section swingarm (instead of the aluminium unit in the faired bike).

The inclusion of dual-channel ABS and the recently added customisable colour schemes make the Yamaha MT-15 one of the most feature-packed motorcycles in its segment. The upcoming variant will be the perfect alternative to the KTM 125 Duke, which recently underwent a massive price hike, now costing Rs 1,60,319 (ex-showroom Delhi).
