EXCLUSIVE: Yamaha FZ25 BS6 Unofficial Bookings Open

Expect deliveries to commence by the end of March or early April

Expect deliveries to commence by the end of March or early April

  • There’s a new ‘S’ variant in the lineup as well.
  • Power and torque figures remain the same as before.
  • The BS6 FZ25 gets a new LED headlamp unit, an underbelly cowl, and more.

Unofficial bookings for the BS6 Yamaha FZ25 have commenced for a token amount ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 10,000 depending on the dealership. Expect deliveries to begin by the end of March or by the first week of April. With the BS6 update, Yamaha has added a new ‘S’ variant to the list.

While the standard model is expected to get a price hike of Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000, the top-spec variant could cost anywhere between Rs 4,000 to Rs 7,000 more than the base BS6 model. For perspective, the BS4 model retails at Rs 1.37 lakh (ex-showroom).

Powering the new FZ25 is the same 249cc motor as before. Although Yamaha has tweaked the motor to make it BS6 compliant, it makes the same power and torque figures as before -- 20.8PS at 8000rpm and 20.1Nm at 6,000rpm. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed transmission. Usually, BS6-compliant two-wheelers gain a bit of weight compared to their predecessors, but in the FZ25’s case, it’s just 1kg heavier than before! This shouldn’t affect the performance, but we will reserve our judgment until we do a proper road test review.

As you can see, there are some minor cosmetic updates as well. The BS6 FZ25 features a new LED headlamp unit, an underbelly cowl, and a new multi-function negative LCD instrument console. And just like the other BS6 Yamahas, it also comes with a side stand engine cut-off switch. The FZS 25, being a touring focused motorcycle, comes equipped with a visor and knuckle guards.

In terms of competition, it goes up against the BS6-compliant Suzuki Gixxer 250.

Best low budget 250cc bike

I have this bike from 2018 and no problem faced till date. Maintenance is cheap, no matter how long you have not started the bike, still it starts in one self. Only draw back is now, I don't get parts and it doesn't have abs feature. I have driven 2500 km in a row with ease and no problem faced. Tubeless tyres.

The Most reliable and efficient 250cc Motorcycle

Reliability was the primary reason as Yamaha Engines are very Reliable. The Maintenance is pocket friendly and the bike has minimum Electronics. The Bike offers amazing mileage which is higher than any other 250cc bike. The Bike is always Smooth to ride even after 7 years. Maintenance has always been basic apart from the replacement of a few wear and rear parts which were mechanical and not very costly. The spare parts availability also was good enough for Yamaha genuine spare parts. This is the most user friendly motorcycle in the 250cc segment. The power output may appear less on paper but the power to weight Ratio is superb which makes this bike easy to manage in traffic and also to control on ghats. The bike always stands out in terms of looks.

Brilliant machine

Mid range sportsbike with a comfortable riding position and good mileage, tires with super grip and giving a decent mileage in city as well as on highway. Periodic maintenance carried out only at Yamaha authorised service centre. It’s a 2021 model with super cool looks at the same time providing riding satisfaction.
