Could be priced at a premium over the Speed 400
Triumph’s much anticipated Thruxton 400, based on the brand’s 400cc platform, has been seen undergoing testing once more, hinting that its launch could be closer than expected. In terms of pricing, the cafe racer could sit between the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X upon launch.
Design
The Thruxton 400 gets several distinct design elements, drawing inspiration from Triumph's larger, now discontinued Thruxton 1200. Its unique tail light and seat cowl highlights its cafe racer aesthetic. The bike's front end is equipped with a half/semi-fairing, a round headlight, a windscreen integrated into the front cowl, bar-end mirrors, the clip-on handlebars and slightly rear-set rider footpegs offer a more aggressive riding position as compared to the Speed 400. Its sculpted fuel tank and upswept exhaust add to its overall aesthetic.
Engine
The Thruxton 400 will be powered by the same 398.15cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine as the other Triumph 400s. It produces 40PS, 37.5Nm, and is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. It was spotted testing just a few days back as well.
Features
In terms of features, it will mostly get the same set of them as the other Triumph bikes based on this platform. So it will have LED lighting all around, an analogue-digital instrument console, traction control, dual-channel ABS, gear position indicatpr, two trip meters, distance to empty, instantaneous mileage, and average fuel economy.
Underpinnings
It shares its platform with the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, including the tubular steel frame and bolt-on rear subframe. The bike is equipped with an inverted fork and a monoshock, for suspension. While the test mules show a black fork, different from the golden ones on the Speed, it is unclear if the suspension will be tweaked to accommodate the additional weight of the fairing. It will get 17-inch wheels at both ends, with a 300mm front and 230mm rear disc setup.
Launch And Pricing
The Thruxton 400 will likely be priced slightly higher than the Speed 400, around the Rs 2.50 lakh mark, between the Speed 400 at Rs 2.40 lakh and Scrambler 400X at Rs 2.64 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). With its distinct cafe racer design, the Thruxton 400 will rival the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650. The bike is expected to be launched sometime this year, expanding Triumph’s 400cc line-up, which currently includes the Speed T4, Speed 400, and Scrambler 400X.
Triumph Thruxton 400 (2025) User Reviews
I chose the Thruxton 400 for its classic cafe racer looks and strong highway performance. It feels smooth and stable on long rides though a bit firm on city roads. A great mix of power style and refinement. The ride feels premium and confident. Engine is quick to respond, stable at high speeds, and corners beautifully. Mileage is fair for a 400cc, and the grip inspires confidence. Slightly stiff in traffic, but overall very satisfying. Yes, absolutely for riders who want performance with elegance. Ideal for solo riders or weekend cruisers who value looks and feel over pure comfort. Not for heavy city commuters, but perfect for spirited rides.Read More

well the bike is top notch, i ofc chose this bike because of its looks and reviews on its performance and my god this bike packs a punch, great pull, awesome handling, you might find suspension on a little stiffer side but its alright, honestly this bike just lacks some digital features or more things to play with on the speedometer, this is bike is actually better than the other triumph bikes in its segment because of its betting tuning ratio which of course comes with a price of lower milage but not much noticeable. Overall this bike is one of the best bike to choose from, better any royal enfield in its segment.Read More
