The new Honda’s pricing is as shocking as it’s performance

  • It will be the most powerful and most expensive Honda sold in India.
  • Standard CBR1000RR-R Fireblade will also be launched alongside.
  • Bookings have commenced with deliveries expected by mid-August.

Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP India Launch Price Revealed

Honda had commenced bookings for the all-new  CBR1000RR-R Fireblade and CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP. Before its scheduled launch, we have managed to access the prices of the upcoming bikes from reliable sources. The standard CBR1000RR-R Fireblade will be priced at Rs 30 lakh while the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP will cost a whopping Rs 34 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom India). That’s Rs 13 lakh more than the previous Fireblade and Fireblade SP. The bikes will be brought to India via the CBU (completely built unit) route and sold through Honda’s BigWing dealerships.

So what do you get in return for so much dough? For one, the all-new CBR1000RR-R gets a complete redesign and looks even more purposeful now. The extra ‘R’ in the name suggests it is a racing thoroughbred. It even gets aero winglets on the fairing and a keyless ignition system so that there is no physical ignition barrel. This gives a clear path for the air flow from the centrally mounted air intake to the airbox.

It gets a new 999.9cc BS6 compliant in-line four cylinder motor that puts out a staggering 217.5PS at 14,500rpm and 113Nm of torque at 12,500rpm. With a weight of just 201kg, expect blistering performance from Honda’s latest litre-class sportbike. To keep things sane, it gets electronic nannies such as a six-axis IMU (inertial measurement unit) that offers a nine-stage traction control, cornering ABS, and launch control. All of this can be accessed via a new 5-inch colour TFT screen.

Both motorcycles get a new aluminium frame with the rear monoshock mounted on the back of the motor for weight savings. The standard CBR1000RR-R Fireblade gets Showa Big Piston forks, a Big Piston monoshock, and braking via Nissin monoblocs. The more exotic Fireblade SP gets Ohlins semi-active suspension and Brembo Stylema calipers.

The new Fireblade will compete against the BMW S 1000 RR, Ducati Panigale V4, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R and the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory. Why has Honda priced its flagship motorcycles so high is a question we hope to get the answers to when the bikes are officially launched.
