Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Real World Mileage Test
It can do more than 400km without a fuel stop
I recently tested the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 in real-world highway conditions, and it delivered a very surprising mileage figure. To ensure accurate results, I used the full-tank method by filling the tank to the brim before starting the ride and refilling it after completing the test. This allowed me to precisely calculate the fuel consumed over the journey.
Test Route & Riding Conditions
The route covered a round trip from the outskirts of Pune to Satara, totalling around 160km. This stretch includes long highway sections, some twisties, and even small traffic patches – making it a realistic mix of touring conditions. During the ride, I maintained consistent cruising speeds between 110-120kmph, with smooth throttle inputs and minimal braking to replicate typical highway touring behaviour.
Real World Mileage
After completing the ride, this Royal Enfield bike required 5.55 litres of fuel to refill the tank. Based on the distance covered, this translates to a real-world fuel efficiency of 28.09kmpl. This figure reflects performance at relatively high cruising speeds and will vary depending on riding conditions. But, with the figures I got and the 17-litre fuel tank, you can cover more than 430km before needing to refuel.
What You Can Expect
Riders cruising at slightly lower speeds of around 80-100kmph can expect better fuel efficiency. However, factors such as traffic, elevation changes, and aggressive riding will have a direct impact on mileage. For reference, the ARAI-claimed mileage stands at 30kmpl.

- Best in the classI'm kinda adventures and I do a lot of touring and cover a lot of kms. wanted service centres in case any issue with the bike. Parts are easily available also wanted a bike with comes in my budget and doesn't not bleed me when it comes to service. Hence, this bike serves all my purpose. - Himalayan 450 review after riding it for 500kmsThe himalayan 450 got such a rally style design which I love it. It got the good school design with a modern twist which looks fabulous. It can take anywhere around on road or off road, the performance of the bike is really good. The bike has good amount power and I'm satisfied with what I got. When you are riding the bike it's really comfortable around the city roads with dumps and pot holes, you don't feel those dumps and potholes due to the suspension which is not adjustable but does the job. - Himalayan 450 the beast with ups and downsI chose the Himalayan because it met my three main criteria.. it had been a brand new bike and it should be a Himalayan and I bought it with my own Money. Although 411 was discontinued the 450 was the perfect choice with fresh design and better power. The ride so far has seen its fair share of ups and downs. I had some issues with few service centre and met with a bad accident recently... But got a good service centre at last and got my bike fixed.. coming to the maintenance the cost is at a higher side but overall it's a great bike. I would like to break it in two parts as...
